There are a lot of different types of food to choose from at Disney World, but choosing what your tastebuds are in the mood for is only half the battle!
That’s because while many foods at Disney World are delicious, they’re not all created equal!
We’re dropping in today with some juicy tips on how to make the MOST out of your Disney Dining.
We love to share our favorite tips for getting Advance Dining Reservations. But the thing is, we don’t ALWAYS have an ADR when we need one. Picture this: It’s dinner time and quick-service just isn’t going to cut it. Is there anywhere in Disney World you can get a last-minute reservation or walk-in?
There sure is! Join us as we take a look at the pretty big list of Disney restaurants where you can snag a last-minute reservation if you play your cards right.
And to help make sure you get GREAT EATS, we’re noting our DFB RECOMMENDED restaurants with a red DFB PREFERRED notation for you. There are plenty of kind of blah restaurants in Disney World that tend to always have dining reservations available…because they’re blah. 😉 Stick with these suggested spots and you’ll be firing on all cylinders!
Despite the fact that Disney World is still closed until further notice, they’re still makin’ changes to the menus on their website!
Somewhere out there, work is continuing with Disney World’s food and beverage team! Let’s check out some of the biggest changes coming our way…as soon as we can get back into those restaurants.
Last fall we saw Disney World’s Refillable Mugs, Minnie Ears, and many popular park snack and beverage options receive minor prices increases.
That was just the tip of the tiny price increase iceberg! Over the last few weeks, we’ve spotted several small price hikes. They may not seem like much at first, but when you roll them all together, they start to add UP! But what effect will all of Disney World’s little price increases have on your trip? Let’s examine each one!
Something happened under-the-radar last night while all of us were sleeping!
But luckily for YOU, our Mickey senses were tingling this morning when we woke up (they’re especially sensitive when it comes to price increases!). And you know those already pricey character meals at Disney World? Well, they just got EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE!
We’re steppin’ out in Animal Kingdom today to see what news the day brings!
January can be a slower month around Disney World, so updates tend to be a little more few and far between. Animal Kingdom definitely doesn’t have TOO much in the way of new stuff going on, but they do have a new cocktail and isn’t that enough? For us, yes! Here’s everything new in Animal Kingdom in food, construction, and merchandise!

from Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
Time to visit one of our favorite character dining locations: Tusker House! Tusker House is located in Animal Kingdom’s African village of Harambe and offers a character buffet for breakfast and lunch and a “family style dinner buffet” (really just a buffet — no family style service), also with characters!
One added element of dining at Tusker House is the opportunity to reserve the Rivers of Light Dining Package here, which saves a seat at Animal Kingdom’s newly-revamped Rivers of Life: We Are One nighttime spectacular. Generally, the price differential between the character meal and the dining package is pretty small here, so you may find it’s worth the slight splurge to score that reserved seating.
We weren’t after the Dining Package this time, but we sure were excited to see if the food and experience at Tusker House lived up to its past quality. And we ended up eating TWO full meals at once, which we really didn’t expect! (Read on to find out how we did it!)
Tusker House is a charming restaurant located on your left-hand side in Harambe as you head toward Kilimanjaro Safaris. Check in is at a stand near the Dawa Bar, and you’ll be given a pager. Here you’re welcome to glance at the menu — but keep in mind it’s pretty generic because it’s a buffet! (Don’t worry: we’ll get more specific, and we have photos of EVERYTHING below!)
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of “The Lion King” (and the live-action version of the film will make its debut in July!). And to celebrate, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is rolling out all the snacks — I mean, all the stops! — with a variety of treats available starting May 24th which will be available through the end of the summer!
Stop by Tamu Tamu for the Simba Ice Cream Sandwich: Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies and decorated with a chocolate tail and an image of Simba. [Read more…]

There are some fantastic new things to enjoy around Walt Disney World — and especially at Animal Kingdom. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to forget our favorites! So today, we’re heading back to Tusker House.
The buffet restaurant has been around for quite some time now, but I’ve continued to think of it as a hidden gem. Not only does it offer a character dining experience — and now, you can dine with your Disney friends for breakfast, lunch, and dinner — but the menu is also more interesting than most that you’ll find in Disney buffets.
The last time I visited, it was to enjoy that sort of between-breakfast-and-lunch period. (It’s not technically called brunch, but that’s sorta kinda what it is.) This time, we’re taking in an evening meal to see if everything is still as awesome as it always has been.
You’ll find Tusker House in the village of Harambe. Just head back like you’re going to Kililmanjaro Safaris, and you’ll see it on your left.
The themeing here is superb, as it is with every other part of Animal Kingdom. The restaurant itself is fashioned as the Safari Orientation Centre, with rooms tumbling into one another. [Read more…]

We are back with some of our very best kept Disney Dining Secrets. And we want to share them with you!
Planning what you’re going to eat and drink at Walt Disney World is no small undertaking. To begin, there are tons of choices. But what if you could make your meal a real multitasker? Say, you could enjoy some terrific eats, and get that shiny new autograph book filled with the names of all of your Disney favorites? Yep, we’re talking Character Meals.
You may think that the character meal experience isn’t for you. But we invite you to take a closer look at these special meals and see for yourself if a Character meal could be right for you.
And if you like what you see here, be sure to check out the 2020 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, where we talk character meals and LOTS more!
You may think that if you’re an adult, single, or have older kids, there’s really no reason to engage in that Disney Rite of Passage, the Character Meal. But we think there’s a place for everyone at the character table, and here’s why.
It’s Cool In There, People. I’m not talking, like, rad. I mean literally, it’s cool. Like, air-conditioned. And in our opinion, waiting for characters with the a/c cranked up while noshing on delicious food WAY beats standing out in the hot sun any day. [Read more…]
