Summer 2020 is creeping up on us annnd you know what that means, Avengers Campus is almost here!
Today, we have some exciting new details on what to expect from this new land.
Since we heard the announcement that Avengers Campus is set to open at California Adventure this summer, we have anxiously waited for more details to emerge!
From the latest in ride technology to an ACTUAL FLYING SPIDER-MAN, there’s plenty to be excited about with this new land. But when it came to ‘assembling’ the opening team for the newest park expansion, Disney pulled out all the stops to re-imagine what the hiring process could look like, with one priority in mind: storytelling. While they did something similar with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this takes it to a whole new level.
We’ve been hard at work in the parks scoping out all the latest news for you! First, a few things to remember…

We have a lot to share with you this week, so let’s jump right in…
Now that Galaxy’s Edge has been fully realized at Disneyland Park, attention has turned over the other side of the esplanade where we’ll be able to live out our super-hero fantasies soon at Avengers Campus at Disney’s California Adventure.
The first phase of the new land is slated to open this summer and we could not be more excited! Scratch that, actually we can, because Disney has just revealed that Spider-Man himself will be swinging above our heads at the campus. Annnnd they shared a video with us!
Spider-man…Spider-man…is still a part of the MCU…land! (Hey, it’s hard to rhyme with MCU guys.)

After months of back and forth between Disney and Sony, an agreement has finally been reached for the cinematic fate of Tom Holland’s Spider-man!
Are you ready to do “whatever it takes” to try some super awesome ice cream?
Marvel’s popularity doesn’t just revolve around the action, plots, and after-credit scenes. The most important part of their franchise is the iconic characters we all know and love. Still, what could make Marvel even better? That’s right: Ice cream!
After 80 years of comics and more than 10 years of Marvel movies, Ample Hills Creamery has rolled out three delicious flavors based on some of the most popular comic book characters: Spider-Man, Captain America, and Black Panther.

Covered in comic strips from each character’s respective narratives, the pints of ice cream take you on flavorful journeys that remind you of Marvel’s delightful storytelling.
It’s no secret that with Disney’s purchase of the Marvel Universe, the Walt Disney Company was banking on bringing superheroes to its many theme parks. Disneyland in California and Disneyland Paris are getting superhero-themed lands, and Hong Kong Disneyland is getting a Marvel-themed ride.
But even with copious development in Walt Disney World, the only major Marvel Comics-related growth is Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster. There’s no Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, or big green Hulk in sight.
Universal Studios, as you may have guessed if you’re a fan of their hero-themed rides and entertainment, retained the rights to the Marvel characters in an agreement signed in 1994 between Marvel and MCA (which would eventually become part of NBC Universal). But there were two caveats. One: Universal had to actually use the characters to retain control over them, and Two: the agreement split the country down the middle, and the rules applied separately to the areas east and west of the Mississippi River. This just in, from Disney… “The Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and training facilities around the globe to inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become something more. As part of this global initiative, Tony Stark has founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade — or WEB for short— to develop advancements in super-powered technology, including new enhancements to Spider-Man’s suit as their debut project. By bringing together the world’s brightest young inventors, the WEB is creating new interfaces that will empower all of us to join the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest.”
Walt Disney Imagineering’s Global Marvel Portfolio is currently working with their partners across Studios and Entertainment to “create exciting experiences and attractions where you can join fan-favorite Super Heroes” at both Disneyland Resort in the U.S. and Disneyland Paris. [Read more…]

Or take a gander at a few fun items we’ve found to be hidden gems…just in time for holiday feasts!
We all know the typical holiday scene: the extended family is gathered ‘round for a feast, and there’s the “adults” table, and the “kids” table. But tell me… who wouldn’t want to be relegated to the kids table, with place settings and accessories like the ones we’ve found here?
Of course, these items aren’t just for the holidays, they’re good for all year. So, if you’re still looking for a few things to round out the stocking for your little pirate or princess, or just add some fun to their holiday (or everyday!) place setting, you may want to take a look at these…
If this year’s wait times to meet Frozen’s Anna and Elsa at Disney World have been any indication, little girls may actually run to dinner if their place setting includes this Anna and Elsa Placemat.
The Frozen Flatware features a spoon with Anna, and a fork with Elsa.
For those who have picked their definite favorite, there is an Anna Tumbler…
… or an Elsa Tumbler.
Both sisters are featured on this Frozen Aluminum Water Bottle.
Really, though, who are Anna and Elsa without their buddy Olaf? Even if you’re completely Frozened-out 😉 , you have to admit this Olaf Sipper Cup is pretty cute.
But even if Elsa is the current reigning Queen, there’s a little guy who inspires even more loyalty amongst the kiddos (and us big kids, too ;). I love how this Mickey Mouse Plate comes complete with ears (perfect for side dishes)…
So does the [Read more…]
