In case you missed it, allow us to give you a recap of the Disney Skyliner’s opening back in 2019: Disney Skyliner opens (yaaaay!). Disney Skyliner breaks (oh nooooo!).
Re-creation of the Skyliner Incident 😉
Now that we’re all up to speed, we gotta have some real talk here. The Skyliner stranded guests mid-air for 3 hours. It has remained closed since Saturday evening and Disney has released a statement about the incident, but there’s one thing we still just can’t get off our minds. Those emergency kits!

The “Twitterverse” is blowing up with the news that Disney World Skyliner gondolas are piled up at the Riviera Resort station, and that the entire Epcot to Caribbean Beach line is shut down. The Epcot to Caribbean Beach line has an optional stop at Riviera Resort.

People are tweeting that Disney has advised guests that are stuck to use their emergency kits under the seats — which contain water and cool packs.
Disney has now begun the process of evacuating the stuck gondolas, with help of fire trucks. Big thanks to DFB Follower @WaltyDis for the photos.

10-6-19 UPDATE:
Disney World has closed the Skyliner today. There is no word currently as to when they will reopen.
The cause of the collision is unknown, though speculation has been made both about a power failure and errors made in the systems that route the gondolas within the stations.
This is a developing story, but we will continue to update as we get more news.
The Disney Skyliner has introduced guests to a whole new World of views, efficient travel, and fun since it opened back in 2019. But what about all the tasty destinations along the way?
We’re talking resort hotel eats and drinks at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort! Plus, you’ve got to add in Epcot’s World Showcase’s international cuisine and classic sips and nibbles at Hollywood Studios. [Read more…]
We’ve been really enjoying telling you folks back home about the NEW Disney Skyliner!
And now we have a fun little surprise to report to you! Just wait until you see what was left for us at our Disney World Resort room last night!
By now you’ve probably read ALL our coverage of the new Skyliner which just opened today at Disney World— in case you slept on it, you can read all about it here!
But the word in the sky is that while the Character-themed gondolas are pretty cool-looking on the outside, the view from the inside makes it REALLY hard to see anything!
Here at DFB, we like to look on the bright side! That’s why we want to share with you this Character Skyliner gondola that we LOVED — and we think you will too!
It’s the day we’ve waited for — the Disney Skyliner is OFFICIALLY OPEN!
Skyliner and Riviera Views
We’ve already taken to the skies previewing the newest transportation at Walt Disney World, witnessed the dedication ceremony, and answered all of your biggest questions ahead of its opening to the public, and now it’s your turn to soar over Disney World on the Skyliner!

We can’t believe that after many, many months of waiting The Disney World Skyliner Gondola System is almost ready to launch officially!
Disney’s Skyliner is scheduled to open to the public on September 29th, but we were able to take a spin on Disney’s newest mass transit system earlier this week during a special event. We’re excited to tell you what we learned — and what you’ll want to know for your first ride in the sky!
We’ve watched the towers go up, the dummy gondolas fly by, the cabins with character head out on the line, and now — finally! — it’s time for us to take our FIRST FLIGHT aboard the Disney Skyliner!
The Skyliner, as you’ll recall, is a gondola system at Walt Disney World that connects two theme parks and four Resort hotels. And thanks to a DFB pal, we got a chance to see it from the sky!
