While there are so many exciting projects to look forward to in the years to come, there were eight Disney World announcements that really rocked the boat for Disney fans. Let’s take a look back at some of the most controversial Disney World announcements.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
This popular ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been closed for refurbishment since January 8th, 2024. But, other than “summer 2024,” we weren’t quite sure when it would be opening. And, while Disney still hasn’t made any official announcements yet, we spotted something on the Disney World app that makes us think we know when we can experience this attraction once again!

We know you know about the fun interactions you can have with the 50th Anniversary character statues and living your best bounty-hunting life over at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
From slow-moving boat rides to fast-paced roller coasters, Disney has rides for everyone! They keep surprising us with new ride technology and they keep getting bigger and better. But not all the rides are as reliable as others. Even some of our most beloved Disney rides know how to let us down. We’ve noticed six rides that keep dropping the ball recently and unfortunately, it includes some of the most iconic Disney rides.
It’s a good thing there are plenty of attractions in each Disney park because this gives guests other options when one happens to close.
Hollywood Studios
We see plenty of unexpected closures, like when a ride suddenly breaks down due to technical issues, but these are often fixed the same day. Attractions see a lot of daily use though, so sometimes they need to close for extended periods of time to allow Disney’s teams to do some maintenance. These fixes take a bit longer and one ride has just CLOSED as part of an extended maintenance closure in Disney World.
2023 is a momentous year for Disney. Not only will the 100th anniversary for the company kick off toward the end of January, they will be wrapping up the 50th anniversary celebrations at Disney World this spring. We also have a few other anniversaries to celebrate this year, PLUS attraction closures and openings.
