We LOVE Disney World…but also, we sometimes HATE Disney World.
Okay, we don’t hate ALL of Disney World, but like any other place, there are some things in the parks that might not be the most enjoyable. Whether it’s the manic weather or the hefty bill we have to foot at the end of our trip, there are some things in Disney World that we despise. But many times, you can actually avoid those problems!
Rideshare services are readily available in Disney World, but one might be a bit more “magical” than the rest. We’re talking about Minnie Vans, which are Minnie Mouse-themed vehicles operated by Lyft that provide direct and private transportation around the Disney World resort.
When Disney World reopened, Minnie Vans did not return. We recently got an update about the service returning on June 29th and even saw some Minnie Vans in the wild, and now we’ve got another update!
Not all Disney World vacations are created equally.
Sure, all of the attractions and dining options might generally remain the same (though things are always changing around Disney World!), and you might hug the same characters too – but at the end of the day, no two Disney World trips are the same. One of the biggest factors that can impact a trip is just how crowded the parks are on the day of your visit. This can affect everything from how long you have to wait to ride your favorite attraction, where you decide (or are forced) to eat a meal, and yes – even how much you pay for certain things. Disney World is not immune to surge pricing, but we’re giving you our best tips on how to avoid it!
To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.
COVID-19 rules and regulations are CHANGING.
Not too long ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended the U.S. mask mandate for planes and other public transportation, as well as transportation hubs. The CDC’s mask mandate was then struck down by a federal judge in Florida. Following that, the TSA announced that it would not enforce the mask mandate on public transportation and other changes have now been made. Now, a big mask change is coming to a form of transportation you might use often in your own town or while on vacation at Disney World and elsewhere.
Between the high gas prices, added cost of airport transportation, and fuel charges recently added to Uber and Lyft, price increases will follow you no matter which method of transportation you choose in Disney World. Even renting a car is pretty tricky these days! We all need a way to travel to Disney World, but with so many options, it can be hard to decide what’s best for you and your family.
Minnie Vans are returning to Disney World soon
If you prefer the freedom of traveling around Florida with a car, you’ve likely considered a rental service. Now, there’s a NEW option for guests hoping to drive themselves around Disney World, and it might solve some of your problems!
If you’re going to Disney World and won’t have access to a car, you’ll need a way to get around the resort.
Rideshare sign
And although Disney World has an excellent transportation system, sometimes you might need to book a rideshare, especially if you’re in a rush or need to travel quickly from one Disney World location to another. We use rideshare services at Disney World A LOT, so we’re going to break down our best tips and tricks based on everything we’ve learned along the way.
Sometimes, there’s no better feeling than bypassing that super long Disney World bus line after the Magic Kingdom fireworks, knowing your rideshare will be pulling up in a few minutes and you’ll be riding in cool comfort straight to your hotel. You’ll probably beat that bus line by a good 30 minutes, and maybe more.
Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft have become even more important for Disney World visitors since the free Magical Express transportation between the Orlando International Airport and Disney hotels has been discontinued. But rideshares just got more expensive, and we’ve got a quick look at WHY.
There’s one topic of conversation that’s been on a lot of people’s minds lately. No, we’re not talking about Wordle (but yes, we are obsessed), we’re talking about the news that practically every local TV news station and next-door neighbor can’t stop talking about: gas prices. For those of you planning a trip to Disney World, the rising cost of gas might seriously cut into your snack budget — especially if you’re driving all the way to Orlando!
Ya can’t walk to Disney World, sadly
But even those of you who aren’t bringing your own car to Disney World might feel the impact of higher gas prices. How you may ask? One word: Uber.
There’s no point in sugar-coating it or pretending like it’ll just go away. Let’s face the facts — getting to Disney World from Orlando International Airport is no longer as “easy” and cheap as it used to be.
At the start of 2022, Disney’s Magical Express concluded its service. A moment of silence, please, for the loss of this iconic service. ? Since you can no longer hum your Disney tunes, hop on the Magical Express, and *magically* arrive at your Disney World hotel, you’ll need to figure out what other options you have when it comes to ground transportation from the airport to Disney World. Aside from just what options you have, you may be wondering just how LONG it’ll take you to get from one spot to the other and whether the use of any of these options makes a difference. No worries, we’ve got you covered with EVERYTHING you need to know!
