The Refreshment Port in Epcot at Walt Disney World is a convenient spot to grab a snack — including Canada’s famous Cheddar Cheese Soup and Poutine!
Disney World’s Poutine Obsession: 15 Ways To Get Your French Fry Fix
So…a poutine cloud apparently burst over Orlando and now you can get varieties of this relatively obscure French Canadian pub grub delicacy pretty much everywhere in Disney World. There’s even a dining spot completely dedicated to poutine.
The dish traditionally consists of French fries covered in cheese curds and brown gravy, and Canadians will cheerfully tell you that NONE of the dishes below qualify. Yet they’re called Poutine on the menu, and since we love french fries with stuff piled on top of them, we’re happy to tally them up for you!
Oh, and here’s some real Canadian poutine for reference.
So here’s the Disney World Poutine Crawl!
Cheddar Cheese Poutine — Refreshment Port, Epcot
is the most recent addition to the poutine World and can be found at the Refreshment Port in Epcot.

It’s the BEST! DAY! EVER!!!
Because the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is ON!!
And YOU’VE got until November 13th this year to try everything you absolutely MUST EAT at this year’s Festival. So that’s why I’m here! To show you 2017’s CAN’T MISS ITEMS so you don’t miss ANY of the BEST OF THE FEST!
Be sure to click over to our Marketplace Booth Page to see pictures of every single dish at the Festival. Just click through the links for each booth to see pictures of all your favorite dishes, along with every single new one from this year!
Now let’s waste no more time and dive right in to 2017’s TOP PICKS!
Zesty Cheeseburger and Cheddar Cheese Macaroni Handwich at Craft Beers
It’s no secret that we have a fondness for cheese and handwiches around here. Kudos to the Craft Beer booth for surprising us with this new (old) addition — the Zesty Cheeseburger and Cheddar Cheese Macaroni Handwich.
This one is OG Disney. The handwich (a lot like this, but not really) was the original hand-held sandwich. (What’s that? All sandwiches are hand-held, you say? What do YOU know?!?!?) And it was also a cult favorite for Disney foodies before Disney foodies were even a thing. (You know who you are.) [Read more…]
What’s New Around Walt Disney World: April 24, 2017
Wow… we’re gearing up for a LOT of new experiences coming to Walt Disney World in the coming weeks. Next month, the new “Happily Ever After” nighttime spectacular will make its debut in Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom will unveil an entire new LAND with Pandora — The World of AVATAR!
But, as always, there is plenty taking place in the here and now in Disney World, too. So, let’s take a look around the parks and resorts to find out What’s New!

Sample Epcot Food and Wine Festival Menu Items BEFORE the Festival!
We know, we know… we talk about the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival a lot around here. Like, a LOT, a lot.
And can you blame us? It’s our favorite time of year, and we can’t wait to dig into all the new flavors like Brazil’s Layered Meat Pie with Mashed Yucca (as well as some of our old standbys — I’m looking at you, Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup) at the Festival Marketplace Booths this year.
But let’s say your Disney World travel dates fall outside of the Festival dates of September 25 – November 16th. What’s a Disney food fan to do?
I’ll tell you what… You can try a few Food and Wine Festival offerings in spots around Epcot and Downtown Disney right now. Follow me!
Featured Beverages at the Refreshment Cool Post
We’re starting at Epcot’s Refreshment Cool Post, tucked between the China Pavilion and the walkway to Germany.
You may have passed the Refreshment Coolpost a bajillion-and-one times on your jaunts around World Showcase without thinking much of it. Kid-friendly fare is the primary focus, with the main offerings of hot dogs and frozen yogurt (for a time it was a super yummy pineapple) providing options for picky eaters far away from the American Adventure Pavilion. Even if you have walked right on by, you may still be familiar with the nearly constant sound of drums being played by the congregating kiddos! [Read more…]
What NOT to Eat at the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival
Can you believe it? We are nearing the halfway point of the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival already!
So far, we’ve shown you delicious dishes — both brand new options and returning favorites — that are featured at the International Marketplaces located around World Showcase. But I’m thinking that leaves another question:
What are some of the items that we would definitely cross off the list?
Of course, in a perfect world, where there would be unlimited time, money, and stomach space, I know you’d gladly try everything on offer. But here in reality, those dollars (and Disney Dining Plan snack credits) must be spent wisely.
So while we’ve told you several dishes and beverages that we don’t think you should miss at this year’s Festival, today, I thought we’d run down the list of items that we plan to cross off. Because, well, something’s gotta give. 🙂 I’ll also give you some suggestions for what we’d get in place of these items.
Ghirardelli Sundae at Fife & Drum
In the past, Fife & Drum Tavern in the America Pavilion has had Festival success with extra menu additions like the Frozen Red Stag Lemonade. (That one proved to be so popular, it was added to the menu permanently.)
But while the Ice Cream Sundae with Ghirardelli Chocolate Sauce on the menu this year is good, it’s not “skip another awesome menu item” good.
The sundae is Vanilla Soft Serve with a few pumps of Ghirardelli Chocolate Sauce. There are way more tempting options all over World Showcase.
Instead, why not go for a frozen treat with international flair? Skip the soft serve, and go for some Kaki Gori at the permanent Japan stand, Kabuki Cafe.
Guylian Seashell Truffles at the Desserts & Champagne Marketplace
So, here’s where we make a bit of a confession. If there were one booth I’d outright skip at the Festival it would probably be Desserts & Champagne.
It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it. It’s just that I find so many more compelling options circling World Showcase Lagoon. Case in point: one of the menu items here is Guylian Seashell Truffles. This is not a dish. This is something that the Cast Member takes out of the box and hands to me.
Sure, they’re only $1.75. But they can be bought at the grocery store…and when we are Food and Wine Festival-ing, we are definitely passing on this in lieu of more exotic fare.
If you’re looking for a truly satisfying chocolate dish, head to the Ireland Marketplace and try the amazing Warm Chocolate Pudding with Kerrygold Irish Cream Liqueur Custard, which is more than worth the price difference.
Dole Squish’Ems at Refreshment Port
If you want to stop at the Refreshment Port for a Croissant Doughnut, we are totally on board with that.
But one featured Festival food we will not be making time or money for is the Dole Squish’Em. The prepackaged, applesauce-based snack may be a big hit with the preschool crowd.
But unless you’re under 3 (or you really, really like flavored applesauce), we wouldn’t worry about checking this box off your passport. If you’re looking for a fruit fix, the [Read more…]
Review: Cronut a la Mode in Disney World’s Epcot
Last December, we were thrilled to report that Epcot had jumped on the cronut wagon!
Epcot’s Refreshment Port (if you’re walking from Canada, you’ll find the Port immediately before the paths that take you into Future World) quietly introduced them with this unassuming sign listing “Croissant Doughnut.”
Of course, “Croissant Doughnuts” is quite an apt description for these fried pastries formed out of rings of croissant dough (plus, as I mentioned in the previous post, the name “cronut” is trademarked — so legal stuffs and whatever).
We tried ’em. We loved ’em. But guess what!!
Not only are the cronuts still in full swing at the Refreshment Port… you can now get them A LA MODE.
You need to approach the counter to see this option: it’s on a small sign near the registers, so you can’t find it on the regular display… at least, not yet.
Just take a look!
The ice cream is a generous portion of vanilla soft serve. If you want ice cream with every bite, you’re set!
Of course, I had to get the regular (non a la mode) cronut for a side by side comparison… all in the name of proper research, of course 😉 .
Everything that we love about the cronut to begin with [Read more…]

Brioche Ice Cream Sandwiches at L’Artisan des Glaces Sorbet and Ice Cream Shop
There’s nothing like finding something completely new and original while you’re strolling through the parks. And I wasn’t disappointed on a recent trip through Epcot’s France Pavilion.
We all love L’Artisan des Glaces Sorbet and Ice Cream Shop. I mean, 16 delicious, artisan ice creams and sorbets made right here in Epcot (I’ve seen the machines)!
PLUS Ice Cream Martinis and Chocolate Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches. Are you kidding me?? Utter yumness.
But stop the presses! (Ha! That will be even funnier after you finish reading this.) Because they’ve also added Croque Glaces — Pressed Ice Cream Sandwiches.

L’Artisan des Glaces Pressed Brioche Ice Cream Sandwich with Pistachio Ice Cream and Raspberry Sauce
If you love ice cream sandwiches as much as I do, you’ve gotta try this. They take a freshly baked Brioche Bun, add a scoop of your choice of Ice Cream, and a drizzle of your choice of Raspberry or Chocolate Sauce. (Yep! It’s totally customized!)
Then, the top of the bun is replaced, and the whole thing is [Read more…]
