Beginning on May 7th, 2025, anyone flying in the United States will need to provide a REAL ID as part of the check-in process before boarding their flight. REAL IDs are state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards that meet the federal REAL ID security standards.

The act requires people to update their driver’s licenses or other identification cards before they will be allowed to board a plane.
