It’s hard to believe we’ve lived without Test Track in EPCOT for almost a whole year, but here we are.
Test Track
Test Track closed back in June 2024 for a massive re-theme and isn’t scheduled to reopen until late summer 2025. So yep, that’s another full-year closure for a major ride (note that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is also undergoing a massive year-long refurbishment). But why is Disney taking SO long to finish the Test Track re-theme? Well, we have a few ideas.

EPCOT
You’re going to see some construction happening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom while Dinoland, U.S.A. becomes Pueblo Esperanza, a brand new land. Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will eventually be converted into a Monsters, Inc. land. In Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be getting some kind of update and will be closed for at least a year, while we’ll also see construction for a new Cars expansion and Villains land. Well, EPCOT might not be as exciting to visit either…for one very important reason.
A LOT is changing in Disney World, specifically at EPCOT. Okay, actually a lot has already changed at EPCOT as it’s about to finish a multi-year massive transformation.
Test Track
However, Disney isn’t quite done with EPCOT just yet. Disney previously announced that one of EPCOT’s most popular rides, Test Track, would be getting an update, and that update is going to happen sooner rather than later. Test Track will close on June 17th, but as to what we can expect from the update…well…Disney has been pretty tight-lipped about most of the details. So we asked YOU, our DFB readers, what you think the new Test Track will be like, and you had some theories!
When a ride gets an upgrade in Disney World, that’s all anyone can talk about.

Disney fans start speculating on what the upgrade will be, how much of the ride will change, andtheir HUGE expectations for the new version of the ride. Right now, we’re seeing it with the Country Bear Jamboree update that will bring a new show (and new outfits) to the classic Disney attraction. Now that we know Test Track will soon be closing for its own update, fans have some SERIOUS concerns and opinions.

Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters – a variant of the attraction featured at numerous Disney Parks around the world – has been open at Tokyo Disneyland since 2004. However, after a 20-year run, the attraction is going to close permanently in October 2024 to make way for a new ride based on a different Disney property!

Splash Mountain is set to be completely reimagined as a Princess and the Frog attraction. We’ve already seen some concept art of what some scenes in the new ride will look like, and learned about some of the characters coming to the ride. But if you’ve been wondering just when Splash Mountain will close to be transformed, we’ve FINALLY got an answer!
Although Disneyland only reopened in April, a LOT has been going on at the resort!

After the reopening, Avengers Campus opened, and then the Jungle Cruise reopened after receiving a new storyline. Not to mention, Splash Mountain will soon get a new story at both Disneyland and Disney World. But now, ANOTHER ride at Disneyland is about to get an update!
There is SO much going on at Disney World and Disneyland — we’re seeing new attractions being built at Disney World, and we just witnessed the grand opening of Avengers Campus at Disneyland.
When will we get to see this re-themed?
We’ve even been able to enjoy a re-theme of the Jungle Cruise at both parks (which is complete at Disneyland). But we’re still wondering, what is going on with the Splash Mountain re-theme project?
