You know it! You love it! You have to have it! It’s Dole Whip (affectionately called Pineapple Soft Serve a lot of the time), and it’s been a staple of Walt Disney World for years. Of course you know where you can find it in Adventureland at Aloha Isle (Disney World) and the Tiki Juice Bar (Disneyland) in the shadows of the Tiki Room (you can even bring your sweet treat inside to eat during the show!).
Spotted: Pop Century Resort Shop Stop ATM!
Today, we’ve got a treat for y’all, and it won’t add a single calorie to your diet. We just think it’s super cool. But in order to get into it, we’ve gotta get into Pop Century Resort.
News! Menu Updates and New Dishes at Disney’s Pop Century Resort Food Court
Hey Pop Century fans — we’ve got NEWS!!
Here’s a heads up for upcoming Pop Century Resort guests at Walt Disney World — the Everything Pop Food Court menu has been updated with significant changes. Let’s take a look…
Breakfast
Most of our favorites are still on the morning menu including the popular POP Waffle with fruit topping (unfortunately, it’s now at a higher price :-().
The chocolate chip pancakes, breakfast pizza, breakfast wrap, and breakfast potatoes did not survive the cuts. A potato casserole is now being offered as a side dish.
New breakfast entrees include: a biscuit with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs; empanada puff pastry; corned beef hash; and new omelet choices (Southwest, Floridian, Italian, and Vegetable).
We have also spotted a Create-Your-Own Yogurt Parfait, Spanish Quiche, and Breakfast Burrito. Most of these items are also available on the Kids’ Menus.
Instead of an “Omelet of the Day”, there’s now a [Read more…]
Guest Review: Everything Pop Food Court Breakfast, Snacks, and Dessert
Welcome back guest author Joey Beyer to the Disney Food Blog with a groovy review of Pop Century’s food court!
On a recent trip to Walt Disney World, I had multiple firsts, which included the Liberty Tree Tavern, Le Cellier, and lunch at the Tusker House.
Today however, I will be discussing the food court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. This was my first time staying at Pop Century, and my motivation was all the positive things I had heard about the “Everything Pop” food court.
Atmosphere
The Pop Century food court is well organized and, even when it was very busy, it never felt overly crowded.
The panoply of foods that each station offered also impressed me. Breakfast offers everything from the standard Disney baked goods (e.g. cheese danishes and muffins) to breakfast burritos to the famous Pop Century waffles.
Lunch and dinner sees the stations change to a deli counter, a grill, a pizza and pasta station, and a Mexican/Asian cuisine station. Sweet treats from the bakery such as cake, cookies, and cupcakes are offered throughout the day.
Eats
At breakfast time I sampled a Pop Century waffle, a cheese Danish (a longstanding Disney resort favorite of mine since I was very young), banana bread, and the blueberry muffin.
Of these options, the Pop waffle stands out the most. It may just be me, but something about that “Pop!” in the middle of the waffle makes it taste that [Read more…]
Snack Series: King Cupcake at Pop Century’s Food Court
So let me tell you a little secret… When we first reported about this cupcake I was SO jealous of everyone who got to try it! It looked either 1.) Amazing, or 2.) Disgusting…and I couldn’t wait to find out which it was!!
This “wow” cupcake was created at Disney’s Pop Century Resort in the Everything Pop Food Court. This food court has long been the home to some truly unique and incredible eats, so I figured this one would likely weigh on the “amazing” side of the coin. 😉
And I was 100% correct!
Pop Century’s King Cupcake
The “King” Cupcake is a tribute to Elvis Presley. This makes sense in a place like Pop Century, which is devoted to celebrating all things pop culture from the 1950’s through the 1990’s.
When I headed inside, I check out the snazzy new digital menus, which featured some new desserts!
But, of course, my eye came to rest on this beauty. I’d been told that they sold out of these quickly, so I’d visited late morning to be sure I got one!
It was just as pretty as I’d expected. For those who aren’t sure what the heck this cupcake is all about, here’s the list of attributes: [Read more…]
Guest Review: Breakfast at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Let’s welcome back Melissa Sue Sorrells Galley with a review of breakfast at the Everything Pop Food Court in Disney’s Pop Century Resort!
In late February, I traveled down to Walt Disney World to celebrate One More Disney Day; and because it was a last-minute trip, I was traveling on a tight budget and without my husband. So I decided to stay at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
I’d visited the resort and shopped in Everything Pop Shopping and Dining on a previous trip, but I’d never ordered food from the Food Court portion of the massive retail location before. I’m excited to share my findings with you.
Atmosphere
My first impression: Everything Pop is loud and overwhelming. There are lots of kids, lots of Disney resort mugs, and lots of folks wandering around without looking where they’re going. It took me a moment to get my bearings.
But after taking a quick walk around the perimeter of the food court, I regained my confidence, and I didn’t run into any problems. In fact, I found myself looking forward to my morning visit to the food court. It has a fun, festive atmosphere. It’s a very Disney way to start the day!
My only actual complaint about the food court is that it’s really cold in there in late February and early March! Especially if you’re traveling with small kids, I’d bring a sweater.
The food court itself is set up in sort of a half-moon, with six different service stations and a prepared food area. At breakfast, only three of the stations and the grab-and-go area in the back were open. But there were plenty of options, from POP waffles and chocolate croissants to omelets and breakfast platters.
Once you’ve loaded up your tray, the checkout counters stand [Read more…]
New! “The King” Elvis Presley Cupcake at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Thanks to reader Susan T., we have a bit of seriously rad information for you: The King Cupcake recently debuted at the Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World in the Everything Pop food court! As a tribute to Elvis Presley, the cupcake features all of the flavors from the King’s renowned favorite sandwich:
- Chocolate Cupcake
- Banana Custard Filling
- Peanut Butter Frosting
- Candied Bacon
- Chocolate Drizzle
This is totally a big hunk ‘o love, right?! Can you believe that?!?
Susan sent along this review — scroll down to see her pic!:
The cupcake was nice and moist. I would’ve liked a bit more banana custard inside, but it was nice and tasty. The peanut butter icing was to die for. You really need to like peanut butter, which I do — so I loved the icing.
It was my first time eating candied bacon. It was [Read more…]
Guest Review: Lunch at Everything POP Food Court in Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Welcome back guest author Catie Hiltz with a groovy review from Pop Century’s food court. Let’s join her for lunch…
My husband, parents and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Walt Disney World after Easter, and I have to say one of the best parts of the trip was the POP Century Resort. I was expecting it to be like the other Value Resorts, but I really loved the themeing and décor, the rooms were clean and not too wildly decorated, and we all especially loved the Everything POP Food Court.
On this particular day, we came back around 2pm from a morning at the parks and decided to grab lunch here.
Atmosphere
Everything POP is arranged in a big open food court/shopping area, where the Resort gift shop is essentially part of the food court (which I really loved, because it combined 2 of my all time favorite things — food and shopping!).
The food court was relatively quiet and laid back, something you might not expect from a food court at a busy Disney Resort during Spring Break (and it was never too crowded, even on later trips back during busier times!). It never felt crowded and we never waited more than 5 minutes for food or to check out.
Eats
As far as menu options, it’s pretty standard Disney Resort Food Court fare, with a few twists. You had your [Read more…]
New Make-Your-Own-Burrito Station at Pop Century Resort Food Court!
Thanks to @1SanFran for tweeting the great news that one of our favorite resort food courts just got a little be better (if that was possible!).
Pop Century Food Court is now offering a make-your-own-burrito station! And is that plastic cheese I see on the tortilla chips?! Hubba, hubba!
Our source mentions that the chef at Pop told him there were similar pasta and salad stations at other resorts as well.
Can’t wait to get burritos the next time I’m at Pop!!
Review: Pop Century Resort’s Tie Dye Cheesecake
After featuring the Tie-Dye Cheesecake recipe on Disney Food Blog back in July 2009, I figured it was high time to review it!
Found at Disney World’s Pop Century Resort, this unique dessert has been a staple since the resort’s opening in 2003. And one reason why I think it’s particularly special (besides the fact that it’s gorgeous) is that it’s one of only a few unique, resort-specific desserts found on Disney World property (Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Zebra Domes and Port Orleans French Quarter’s beignets are two others in the club).
While this cake looks crazy, it’s actually pretty simple in structure. A multi-colored [Read more…]
