Stormalong Bay prior to its closure
Stormalong Bay, located between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, closed for refurbishment in January of 2025 and is set to reopen again just in time for the Summer season this June. We are seriously impressed by the amount of work going into this refurbishment, and we have a little update about how it’s moving along!

The Disney Wish and Disney Treasure are massive cruise ships that house plenty of activities that aren’t lacking in popularity. One of Disney’s newest hotel pools is closing for refurbishment. Disney has announced that the Pools at Pixar Place Hotel — located at the Disneyland Resort — will be closing for refurbishment in March of 2025.

According to Disney, “Beginning March 3, 2025, the Pixar Place Hotel pool deck will be closed for refurbishment. No end date for the refurbishment is specified in the announcement. (PLEASE BE AWARE: this post has been updated — the initial closing date was February 3rd, 2025. That was later updated to February 17th, and it has now been updated to March.)
If you’re planning to stay at a Disney World Resort, there are a few things you need to research beforehand.
Contemporary Resort
You’ll want to make sure you know what amenities come with your room type and that you’re familiar with your resort’s transportation options. You may also want to check out which restaurants are available nearby, so that you know where you want to eat. But above all of that, you DEFINITELY want to know if your hotel will be having any scheduled construction or refurbishments!

There are over 25 hotels on Disney World property alone. It can be hard to find the right fit for you and your party. With three different hotel tiers, Value, Moderate, and Deluxe, each tier shares and has its benefits as compared to the others. While you may think the room size or proximity to the park may be some travelers’ top priority, a pool rule could actually sway where you stay!

If there’s a ride or attraction that you’re really hoping to visit, then you’ll definitely want to check the park hours and the attraction hours ahead of time, just in case the ride is closed for maintenance during your trip. But did you know that the same can go for other offerings in Disney World, like restaurants, hotel lobbies, or pools?
