Although we’re still a little sad that Disney eliminated its free airport transportation, we still love the feeling of landing at the airport and getting ready to go to Disney World. It’s the best! Well, as much as we love the arrival phase of our airport journey, many seem to agree that there are some parts of the airport we wish we could skip. Could MCO make things better? There’s a major airport-to-hotel transportation update you need to know about.
No, Disney’s Magical Express is NOT coming back. Since the Magical Express ended, we’ve seen 2 major companies essentially “fill the void” of that service, transporting guests to and from the Orlando International Airport and their Disney World hotels (for a fee). Those main services are Mears Connect and The Sunshine Flyer. And these were competing comapnies…until now.
Plans have been in the works since 2018 for a high-speed train that would run from the Orlando Airport to Disney World, but it appears that those plans are not going to come to fruition.
After long debates about the route the train would take, it was decided in May that the Brightline would share tracks that currently house the SunRail Commuter system, and take it from the airport, to the Orange County Convention Center, and then down International Drive before going to Disney World, where a station was expected to be built near — but not on — Disney World property.
