We had a case of wanderlust this week, and instead of getting out the passport and packing, we just hopped over to spend the day in Epcot. Our journey started with some time spent in Future World, followed by a trip around the World Showcase. And boy, did we find a lot new eats and buys for you on this “trip”!
New Menu Items at Epcot’s Restaurant Marrakesh
We have always thought of EPCOT’s Restaurant Marrakesh as one of Disney World’s most interesting restaurants. It has taken great pains to make authentic Moroccan food appealing to guests with any palate. They are continuing in this tradition by adding some unique Moroccan specialties to their menu.
Their first introduction is Pan-Seared Lamb Loin Medallions and Hummus Rosemary Pancakes. This dish comes with zucchini, olives, and toasted garlic au jus.
Some new appetizers are on the menu include Mussels Casablanca. The dish couples steamed mussels with capers, tomatoes, and saffron cream sauce. You’ll also find a new Goat Cheese with Crispy Bread available as an app. [Read more…]
Review: Chef-Created Ice Cream at Epcot’s New Juice Bar
So, let’s say you’ve just polished off an assortment of tapas and Mediterranean wine at Spice Road Table, the newest restaurant in Epcot’s Morocco Pavilion. Perhaps you enjoyed the Lamb Slider or Salted Cod Croquettes, accompanied by Spice Road’s Signature Sangria, but maybe you still have a little room left for something sweet.
Or maybe it’s just a warm day in Florida, and you need a little something cool and refreshing as you stroll around World Showcase.
In either case, you’re in good hands, because Morocco’s new Juice Bar has an assortment of Chef-created ice cream available… and it’s worth a stop!
Atmosphere
The newest structure in the Pavilion serves several purposes: first, it is the home to Spice Road Table, and we invite you to take a look at our Photo Tour from opening day to get an idea of the entire space and some of the stunning detail (and don’t forget to check out our menu review, too!).
Additionally, it houses a retail area, a station to receive a traditional Henna tattoo (“The Art of Henna”), and the space we are visiting today, the Juice Bar!
Facing the lagoon, you’ll find the Juice Bar on the far right – the first thing you approach coming from the Japan Pavilion. The entire space serves as a lovely extension of the Pavilion, and the various features only enhance its already festive marketplace feel.

News and Photos! Spice Road Table Soft Opens in Epcot on Saturday!
We’re so excited to share the awesome news that Spice Road Table, Morocco’s newest eatery, is scheduled to open to the public for a soft opening on Saturday! Woo-hoo!

The New Sign for Spice Road Table!
Disney Food Blog exclusively broke the official news that Morocco was introducing a new small plates restaurant way back in 2012!
We’ve watched the progress with eager eyes and can’t wait to try out the new spot, which we KNOW will be a great location for catching the IllumiNations fireworks!

Spice Road Table from across the Lagoon
Here’s a little photo tour of the new location, straight from Epcot today! You can see that construction walls are still up, so Disney’s going to be burning the midnight oil for the next two days getting this spot up and running… .

Here’s a super fun addition: the Juice Bar!! We’re so excited to be able to sidle up for some chef-created ice cream!! The rest of the menu is [Read more…]
Update! Spice Road Table Opening Soon In Epcot’s Morocco Pavilion!
Waaaaay back in 2012, DFB broke the exclusive news story that a new restaurant would be opening in Epcot’s Morocco pavilion!
As we confirmed in April, Spice Road Table is opening soon! This restaurant joins Tangierine Café (Moroccan sandwiches and specialty pastries) and Restaurant Marrakesh (savory dishes, Moroccan music, and belly dancers). The restaurants all showcase Morocco’s authentic charm.
Mediterranean outdoor cafes served as inspiration for the restaurant’s themeing. Spice Road Table’s exterior is whitewashed with icy blue accents reminiscent of the famous “Blue City” of Chefchaouen in the North African country’s Rif Mountains. Look for an outdoor terrace seating 120 guests and room for 60 indoors with incredible views of the World Showcase lagoon. I can’t wait to see IllumiNations from here! Inside, guests will find cozy booths, Moroccan light fixtures, intricate tiles, tapestries, and art. Some features will represent Morocco’s indigenous Berber tribes.
Along the front of the building, a Moroccan “souk” will offer wares from colorful marketplaces. Before your meal, get a henna tattoo from an artist specializing in temporary body art. There will be traditional and modern designs to choose from!
Menu highlights include [Read more…]

Confirmed! Spice Road Table Restaurant To Open in Epcot’s Morocco!
Many of you will remember when in 2012 Disney Food Blog shared exclusive details about a new restaurant coming to Epcot’s Morocco pavilion in Walt Disney World! Yesterday, Disney confirmed that the restaurant will be opening in 2013!
The name has changed since we reported the story, but the details have not! Here’s a recap of what you can expect at the new waterfront restaurant — Spice Road Table — in Epcot later this year…

Reportedly breaking ground in January 2013, the new Tapaz Restaurant would join Restaurant Marrakesh and Tangierine Cafe to offer authentic Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine in one of Epcot’s most exotic pavilions.

Review: Tangierine Cafe’s Grown-Up Slushies in Epcot
Nestled in the back of Epcot’s Tangierine Café, you’ll find a lovely little spot that serves pastries and an assortment of coffee drinks, some laced with liqueurs.
At the same counter, you will also find a variety of grown-up slushies that prove to be very alluring on a hot (insert the season here) Florida day.
Sips
As I headed to the counter to try one of the flavors — termed daiquiris — I wasn’t really sure which one I was feelin’ of the coffee, tangerine, and strawberry options.
I had tried the Tangerine Daiquiri YEARS before, and had really enjoyed it. (If you’ve ever had the Moroccorita, the consistency is very similar.) But maybe it was time to broaden my horizons.
Since I was being all wishy-washy, the helpful cast member gave me samples to help seal the deal — one Tangerine, and one Strawberry. (Helpful cast members are the BEST.)
Now, I can’t promise that you’ll score samples, but it never hurts to ask!
The Tangerine was delicious and refreshing, but I found the Strawberry to be a little sweet for my taste. So, being the weirdo that I am, I asked for a combo Tangerine-Strawberry Daiquiri. Our helpful cast member continued to be [Read more…]
Guest Review: Tangierine Café in Epcot
Welcome back guest author Melissa Sue Sorrells Galley with a review of the Tangierine Café in Epcot’s Morocco!
Today we’re heading to one of my all-time absolute favorite places in Walt Disney World, Epcot’s Morocco at night, to do one of my all-time absolute favorite things ever: eat.
Atmosphere
As you enter the Morocco pavilion, you’re immediately transported by the sights, smells, and sounds of a Moroccan marketplace, which sets the scene for the delicious meal you’re about to enjoy.
Located on the France-side of the Morocco pavilion, the Tangierine Café is a [Read more…]
