2021 has arrived and it’s going to be a BIG year for Disney!

With the 50th Anniversary of Magic Kingdom coming later this year, several new attractions opening, and multiple refurbishment projects around the resort, there is a lot to see at Walt Disney World this year!
It’s true: Walt Disney World is no longer providing complimentary MagicBands for Resort guests. This change, which was announced last summer, officially kicked in as we began the New Year.

But that’s doesn’t mean MagicBands aren’t still a thing, as evidenced by the abundance available for purchase around Disney World merchandise locations (and still available for pre-order at a discounted rate for Resort guests). There are so many things to be excited about in Disney World in 2021 including the France Pavilion extension with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Creperie de Paris, and the Moana-inspired makeover at Disney’s Polynesian Resort! Today, we’re taking a look at the 6 BIGGEST changes coming to Disney World resorts in 2021!
In case you missed it, MagicBands will NOT be free to Disney resort hotel guests in the new year.

And while that may throw a wrench in some people’s plans, it also means that there’s more freedom to buy the MagicBand of your choosing beyond just feeling compelled to use a solid pink or gray one.
One of the coolest pieces of technology that Disney guests can utilize is the MagicBand, which can be used for tons of essential Disney World functions.

MagicBands can pay for your purchases, open your hotel room, get you into the parks, and act as your FastPasses. Since they were first released, guests staying at Disney World Resort hotels each received a free, solid color MagicBand. However, back in June, Disney World announced it would discontinue offering MagicBands to hotel guests for free in 2021.
