If you’re preparing to set sail on the Disney Fantasy, you need to know that a brand new sweet shop recently opened on board Disney Cruise Line’s youngest ship!
News! Dole Whip-Topped Pineapple Upside Down Cake in Magic Kingdom!
There’s a new pineapple snack in town, and you’re going to want to sit down for this. It’s Pineapple. Upside Down. Cake. With. DOLE WHIP!
Disney FrankenFoods: Fried Banana Sundae at Disney California Adventure
When awesome Disney food just isn’t enough, the mad scientists of the DisneyFoodBlog world get to work. And what results is pure Disney (food) magic: Disney FrankenFoods.
FrankenFoods come alive when we mix and match some of our favorite Disney Parks foods, creating new combinations (and possibly opening portals in the universe of food… no one knows for sure). All we know is that it’s fun (and usually delicious).
Our good friend Heather Sievers of @DiningInDisney fame recently embarked on a quest to build a Fried Banana Sundae. Here’s how she did it.
Heather started this FrankenFoods journey at Award Wieners in Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure.
Review: Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party in Magic Kingdom
Who doesn’t love capping off a night at Disney World with a Fireworks spectacular? I know I do, whether I’m standing shoulder-to-shoulder with literally thousands of other guests in the Hub of Magic Kingdom or taking it all in from the balcony at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
But there is one thing that can make a nighttime show even better…
And that’s DESSERT. Better yet, make that plural: DESSERTS.
That’s where Fireworks Viewing Parties come in! At present Disney is offering the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios, and the Frozen Ever After Dessert Party at Epcot, which pairs desserts and a ride on the Frozen Ever After attraction with a showing of IllumiNations.
But on my last trip, I booked what might be the highest in demand of them all: the Happily Ever After Dessert Party (technically named the Fireworks Dessert Party) at Magic Kingdom. [Read more…]
Spotted: Super Fun T-Shirts Celebrating Disney Snacks
We’ve been spotting some pretty terrific food-themed T-shirts around Disney World and Disneyland merchandise locations lately, and I couldn’t resist sharing some of these fun finds with you today. Because YOUR favorite iconic Disney snack may be represented on some of this garb, and I’d hate for you to miss a chance to pick one up on your next Disney World trip!
If Mickey Waffles, Pretzels, Turkey Legs, and Dole Whips (along with The Haunted Mansion, Fireworks, and Mickey himself) make up your BEST DAY EVER, then check out this tee!
Now, the Turkey Leg shirt has been around for a while now…
New!: Fruits of Mo’ara Fruit Bar in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora — The World of AVATAR
By now we’ve all seen images (or been in the thick!) of the massive crowds at Pandora — The World of AVATAR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
We’ve braved those crowds to give you the skinny on eats at Satu’li Canteen (including breakfast!) and the drinks at Pongu Pongu. Oh, and let’s not forget the fun pre-packaged snacks exclusive to Pandora! (VEIN POD!!!!)
But as it turns out, folks have still gotta figure out a way to beat the crazy heat even in picturesque Pandora. So today we’re checking out what is thus far the only bottled drink and ice cream cart in the World’s newest land.
Just like everything else in Pandora, the cart is themed its new home. As opposed to your typical Ice Cream Novelties Cart, you’re instead visiting ACE Mobile Treats (the “ACE,” of course, referring to Alpha Centauri Expeditions, the interplanetary travel company that helps humans like us explore Pandora today).
Beverage offerings include standard bottled hydration options you’ll find elsewhere: bottles of Dasani, smartwater, and Powerade, along with Zico Coconut Water (here in Watermelon Raspberry) and vitaminwater (Dragonfruit flavored!). [Read more…]
Disney World Food Hack: The Mickey Ear Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich
It’s time for a fabulous Disney Food Hack! This one’s for all my fellow Ice Cream Sandwich lovers out there — but it’s nothing like the ones you can already snag around the World at spots like Sleepy Hollow and Hollywood Scoops.
Nor is it one of the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches from L’Artisan des Glaces. OR a Gelato Sandwich from the Gelato Stand in Epcot’s Italy. OR the Double Chocolate ice cream sammie from Tamu Tamu in Animal Kingdom. It doesn’t even involve Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Sandwich (although it is so quintessentially Disney). [Read more…]
Best and Worst of the Fest: What to Eat (and What to Skip) at the 2017 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival
Greetings from sunny California! We’re coming to you from Disneyland where the 2017 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival is in full swing!
And the Festival is running EVERYDAY this year. So that means you’ve got from now through April 16th to try your top picks at this year’s FOURTEEN Festival Marketplace Booths.
To help you make your list, I’ve tackled each and every food item at ALL of them. Well, with the help of our Dining in Disneyland columnist and best west coast dine-around pal, Heather Sievers, of course!
Click here to check out photos AND prices of ALL the food at the Festival! (Allergy-Friendly Menus, Too!)
Overall, we found the food to be fantastic. It was much better than last year, and much MUCH better than Festival of Holidays. They’re thinking outside of the box and experimenting a little with flavors, and I commend that. [Read more…]
Review: Plaza Ice Cream Parlor’s New Breakfast Menu
The Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is a Magic Kingdom landmark.
Located at the end of Main Street, USA, right before the turn-off into Tomorrowland, this place is an ice cream lover’s dream.
We love it so much, we recently created a Video Review so even when we’re miles away, we can still imagine we’re dipping into a hand-scooped sundae or enjoying an ice cream cookie sandwich.
But there’s more than just ice cream on the menu these days. Now that the Magic Kingdom opening show has been moved into the park itself, there’s plenty of time for milling about and noshing on breakfast before the rides officially open.
So the Ice Cream Parlor has graciously stepped in to add some morning fare to its standard list of eats. The additions include a long-awaited treat in the Magic Kingdom; and a sweet and tasty “event” that’s really more dessert than breakfast. But we never judge!
Variety is the name of the game at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. There are several permanent flavors from which to choose as well as an occasional specialty flavor that rotates in and out of the line-up. [Read more…]
Review: Ice Cream Float from Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor
With all the incredible new items popping up on menus around Disney World, sometimes a food fan’s just gotta go back to her roots.
In this case we are referring to a good old fashioned Ice Cream Float. Of course, when you’re talking ice cream in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, you have to talk about the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.
There are plenty of reasons why we love this joint. When we grab an ice cream treat here, we have a front row seat to Cinderella Castle. And then there’s the variety of ice cream on the menu, including options for vegans, the lactose intolerant, and those who avoid sugar.
And recently the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor introduced a new breakfast menu featuring a Donut Sundae. Seriously, y’all, this place just gets better and better.
But if you’re an ice cream treat traditionalist and the Donut Sundae is a little too busy for you (it takes all kinds), Plaza Ice Cream Parlor has you covered too. And on a recent visit, we went for an old standard: the Hard-Scooped Ice Cream Float. [Read more…]
