Hurricane season is just around the corner, which means the 2025 tropical cyclone names have been released.

If you didn’t know, there’s an official list of storm names cycled through every six years. They’re in alphabetical order, so the year’s first storm starts with A, then the second B, and so on. Some names are retired if the storm is severe enough! While scanning the list, we noticed some familiar names; we didn’t expect to see potential hurricanes named after some of our favorite Disney characters!

With new lands coming to the Disney parks, new ships being added to Disney Cruise Line, plenty of new movies and shows coming to theaters and Disney+, and more, the future seems pretty bright for the Walt Disney Company. But Disney World and much of Florida were impacted in various ways by recent hurricanes, and now we have an idea of just how much.
We’re so close to the end of hurricane season for the year, but not without a little more excitement.

Hurricane season in Florida runs through the end of November, but as we are still in the middle of the month, there’s still a chance that new storms could pop up. And unfortunately, that’s exactly what the NHC is concerned about. A new area of interest has appeared in the Caribbean that has a chance of impacting Florida in the next week or so.

While the Atlantic Hurricane Season is technically almost over (technically ending November 30th), that doesn’t mean it’s too late for dangerous storms to develop in the region. In fact, as of November 5th, 2024, there’s a massive tropical storm currently churning in the Caribbean.
The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season has wreaked havoc, with Florida and many other areas still picking up the pieces from Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene.

Disney World closed the theme parks, water parks, hotels, and more for the first time in years as Milton made its way over the Orlando area, but made it out with minimal damage. Now, another storm is barrelling through the Caribbean and we’re sharing the latest updates.

Disney World closed all of its theme parks, water parks, and more for the first time in years as Milton made its way over the Orlando area. Luckily, the damage to Disney World was mostly minimal, and people were safe at their hotels. Hopefully, the area can get a break from these massive storms, but it is now clear that the National Hurricane Center is once again monitoring an area of interest in the Central Tropical Atlantic.

The powerful storm ripped through Florida, causing several businesses, hotels, and theme parks, including Disney World, to close. The four parks and Typhoon Lagoon closed on October 9th as the hurricane barreled through the area and on October 10th as crews worked to clean up the debris and damage. (Blizzard Beach remained closed due to planned refurbishment.) However, it wasn’t just the parks and water park that were closed for the hurricane, and while the four theme parks reopened on October 11th, some areas have remained closed.
This week, we’ve been keeping a close eye on the path of Hurricane Milton.

The storm made landfall in Florida last night and many businesses and tourist destinations were closed in preparation for the bad weather. Among those locations that closed was Universal Orlando, but they’ve now released information about reopening.
As Hurricane Milton gets closer to landfall, Florida is preparing for high winds and potential flooding.
Disney World before Hurricane Helene
Orlando International Airport has currently ceased commercial flights, although it remains open to flights dedicated to emergency, aid, and relief. Today, October 9th, Disney World closed early and will remain closed through tomorrow, October 10th. That means that many guests will be riding out the hurricane in their Disney World hotel rooms. Ahead of the storm, though, we saw Disney World beginning to prepare at Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs.
