Breaking News! Governor Ron DeSantis Announces Plan to Start Reopening Florida

With Florida’s stay at home order set to expire April 30th, we learned yesterday Governor Ron DeSantis would be making a big announcement today.

And while some beaches and parks have already begun to re-open throughout parts of Florida, Governor DeSantis has just laid out his plan to gradually re-open more businesses and public areas in the following weeks to come.

More Restaurant Reopening Details Discussed By The Re-Open Florida Task Force

The Re-Open Florida Task Force has been meeting this week to determine the best protocols to recommend to the different business sectors in the state.

Today, one of the discussion topics was the best ways to reopen restaurants (which has been discussed in previous meetings) for small-businesses, chains, and beyond. While the entire state of Florida will remain under a stay-at-home order until April 30th, Governor Ron DeSantis has assembled a task force to consult in the reopening of businesses that have been closed for the last several weeks.

The group, which includes the state elected leaders, mayors, and officials from many industries, including Disney World and Universal, has already examined ways to safely reopen restaurants and discussed ways to potentially reopen Disney World in stages.

With Disney Parks around the country currently closed until further notice, Disney fans everywhere are wondering when and what a reopening might look like.

Disney World has been looking into what measures will need to be taken to keep guests safe. Recently Executive Chairman Bob Iger mentioned potential temperature checks at the park gates, but apparently, that’s not the only idea Disney has on the table. Florida is Working Out a Plan to Reopen Businesses. And They Want Disney’s Help.

It has been a very long and uncertain time for many non-essential businesses in and around the Orlando area that have been forced to close out of an abundance of caution, but there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Just yesterday, the Disneyland community heard the news that mass gatherings probably won’t be allowed for many months in California.

Starting Tomorrow The Entire State of Florida Will Be Under Stay at Home Orders

Update: As of April 17th, the governor has allowed some beaches and parks to reopen. Gatherings of 50 or more people are prohibited and social distancing must be practiced.

A little over a week ago residents of Orange county followed shortly by Osceola county went under orders to stay at home. Walt Disney World Resort resides between these two jurisdictions.

But today, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced a 30-day stay at home order for all of Flordia. This order begins on April 2nd at midnight.
