With news dropping that Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening sooner than expected in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney Parks fans were left wondering: How will the August 29th grand opening of Galaxy’s Edge impact Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival, which historically begins the last week of August?
Food and Wine typically opens in late-August, and crowds descend upon World Showcase immediately. In fact, opening weekend and closing weekend tend to be the busiest times for Food and Wine. With dates for Food and Wine still unannounced, it’s unclear whether the Festival will open before the gates of Black Spire Outpost in Galaxy’s Edge. Our preliminary research and hotel bookings indicate that Food and Wine will likely start no later than early September and may well begin even earlier (mid-August or the last week of August). If you are on the hunt for the greatest shake on Earth, look no further than Vivoli il Gelato in Disney World’s Disney Springs. This gelato shop always has a menu of awesome, ever-changing shakes, and now they’ve declared ownership of the Greatest Shake on Earth. 😉 This shake appears to be a nod to the live-action Dumbo that’s hitting screens next week, and you know we’re here for a treat with a movie tie-in!
Via Disney Springs’ Twitter we now know that the Greatest Shake on Earth consists of three types of gelato: strawberry, cookies and cream, and vanilla. It’s topped with cake and Oreo crumbles, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. [Read more…]
The seasonal options at Sprinkles Cupcakes in Disney World’s Disney Springs and Disneyland’s Downtown Disney are always fun, and for a few more days, you can get this stunner: the Flaming Hot Cheetos Cupcake!
This is a vanilla cake filled with crushed Flaming Hot Cheetos and topped with White Cheddar Cheese Frosting. [Read more…]
Disney has been taking a large number of initiatives to become a more environmentally friendly company. A big way they have done this is by trading in plastic straws for paper straws. And today we spotted paper straws at a Starbucks in Disneyland! SO… we can go ahead and add Starbs to the list of growing eco-friendly straw locations!
Paper straws and reusable shopping bags are two changes that Disney has made as they progress toward their goal of no single-use plastics in the parks in 2019.

If you’re looking for decent Italian food in Walt Disney World, you don’t have to look too far.
In every park (save Animal Kingdom) there are Italian restaurants — some better than others — and Disney Springs has several from which to choose (think: Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante, Terralina Crafted Italian, Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar). Even the resorts get in on the action with one of our favorites — Il Mulino — located at the Swan Hotel.
And then, of course, there’s the Italy Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase, where food is celebrated in several forms: pizza at Via Napoli, gelato at a cart outside, wine in the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar, and classic Italian dishes at Tutto Italia.
Tutto Italia opened in 2013 in the space formerly occupied by Alfredo’s. And even though the name had changed, a lot of Alfredo’s remained. The overall styling of the restaurant was retained — murals, crystal chandeliers, and dark wood create an elegant atmosphere — while the menu satisfies with traditional Italian dishes.
It’s been a while since my last official review of Tutto Italia (see that review here!), so on a recent trip I decided it was time to return and see if this oft-forgotten spot is worth a more regular visit.
Tutto Italia’s design aesthetic features some classic, elegant elements. [Read more…]

is located at the back of the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase at Walt Disney World.
This table service spot is oft forgotten in part because of its location, in part because Morocco’s quick service spot Tangierine Cafe is so good, and in part because Restaurant Marrakesh just doesn’t have the reputation for wowing guests like many of the other World Showcase table service options have.
I like to revisit restaurants whether they’ve got a decent rep or not, and Restaurant Marrakesh is one that we needed to check out again. But it’s one of the options for this year’s Flower & Garden Garden Rocks Dining Package (click here for more info on Garden Rocks and the dining package!), so I was excited to return (and get a coveted ticket to the show!).
Restaurant Marrakesh is a dichotomy. On the one hand, the atmosphere features lovely design details in keeping with the overall styling of the pavilion itself, the building of which was overseen by the government of Morocco. On the other hand, the food at Restaurant Marrakesh is largely uninspired and lackluster.
The atmosphere at Restaurant Marrakesh celebrates some of the classic Moroccan design seen elsewhere in the pavilion (and in the, you know, country of Morocco). [Read more…]
