If you haven’t visited since the parks reopened in the summer of 2020 — a lot has changed. We’re in the midst of the 50th Anniversary Celebration, with new experiences like the Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant in Toy Story Land opening in 2022, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind launching May 27, 2022!

For over 20 years, there’s been a busy season in December during which some particularly large groups visited Disney World and added to the holiday crowds. All of that is changing in 2021, and 2022 might look quite different in Disney World. Let’s get into it!

Planning a trip to Disney World means figuring out how to get there. Are you driving or flying??
Orlando International Airport
Unless you’re local to Disney World, you’re might be choosing to fly into Orlando, Florida, which means you’re probably traveling to Orlando International Airport (MCO). While airlines like Frontier, Southwest, and American Airlines have been adding more nonstop routes to MCO, now another airline is adding a new nonstop route! Check out if it’s near you.
A MAJOR change is coming to airport transportation in Florida! As you may have heard, Disney’s Magical Express service is ending in January 2022. But you won’t be stranded at the airport. There are still options to get you to your hotel, and one of them is a new high-speed train. The Brightline train will take guests from the Orlando International airport to a brand new Disney Springs train station.

The plan is still very much a work in progress and is now expected to open around 2026. While we wait for a progress update, we thought we should talk about how this new train will change Disney World! Will it make things easier? Harder? There’s a lot to consider, so let’s break it down!

In addition to changing Disney World Annual Passes, Disney has also discontinued or altered many previously “free” perks, like complimentary MagicBands for Disney World Resort hotel guests and Annual Passholders, as well as replacing Extra Magic Hours with the shorter Early Theme Park Entry and the more selective Extended Evening Hours. And now perhaps one of the BIGGEST free Disney World perks will be gone in a few short weeks, and here’s what you need to know.
January is a great time to visit Disney World — it’s usually not 100 degrees, the parks are less crowded than during the holidays, and it’s the start of EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts.
