Disney’s Animal Kingdom
opened on April 22, 1998. But this past Memorial Day weekend ushered in a whole new era for the park, which is now open through the evening for the first time since the park’s opening date.
So what happens when this…
… turns into THIS? [Read more…]
There has been a LOT of hype over the latest specialty beverages to arrive to Starbucks.
And while these new sips are being served at Starbucks locations all over Disney property in spots like Epcot’s Fountain View, Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery, Trolley Car Cafe at Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom’s Creature Comforts, they’re likely gracing the menu at your local Starbucks, too (making this a two-fer review for you!).
We’re talking about the Smoked Butterscotch Latte and Smoked Butterscotch Frappuccino! And though they’re available nationwide, many folks are making the comparison to a specific specialty drink at a certain theme park also located in Central Florida: BUTTERBEER™.
Described as “creamy-sweet with kettle cooked butterscotch,” it sure sounds enticing enough.
So I grabbed both the hot latte and the frappuccino versions so I could decide for myself how they really compare to a glass of Butterbeer™. If you’ve never had one, Butterbeer comes in a few different versions like cold or frozen, and has a very sweet and distinct butterscotch flavor throughout its cream soda base. The whole thing is topped off with foam.
This Animal Kingdom park native now has a second home… on our Disney Food Bucket List! The Cotton-Top Tamarin Cupcake is #OnTheList this week!
When this cute cupcake made our “You Won’t Believe This!” snack list, its home was the Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery. These days, you can find it pretty exclusively at Creature Comforts, the Animal Kingdom Starbucks location.

Well, you already know about the Starbucks Holiday Mug exclusive to the Disney Parks Starbucks: Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery, Epcot’s Fountain View, Animal Kingdom’s Creature Comforts, and The Trolley Car Cafe at Hollywood Studios.
But did you know about the itty-bitty versions of the year-round cups and mugs? That’s right — the in-park Starbucks are also selling ornaments of the signature Starbucks cup design that you can only find in Disney Parks.
Your choices are miniature versions of the hot beverage cups or the cold beverage tumblers for $12.95 each. [Read more…]

Starbucks opened today
in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, completing the line-up of Starbucks locations in Walt Disney World parks (the others being Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery, Epcot’s Fountain View, and Hollywood Studios’ Trolley Car Cafe along with Downtown Disney’s two locations).
On a recent tour of the building’s exterior (formerly a merchandise store), we noticed what looked like coffee beans added to the design elements. Africa is one of three main regions from which Starbucks sources their coffee!
As you approach the Starbucks from the front of the park (located between Discovery Island and Africa), this is the first Entrance of two that you will encounter.

You’ll notice that the name “Creature Comforts” has stuck, which kind of make sense, right? I love the two little monkeys with their coffees flanking the sign. 😉
But just in case you’re not sure where you are, a subtle mermaid logo sign is posted near the door.

We recently took a look back at some of the top Disney Food News Stories of 2014. And today, we’re happy to let you in on some of the new dining experiences you can expect in 2015. We figure there’s lots more to come, but this is certainly a good start!
First up: another new restaurant is coming to Disney Springs! STK by the The ONE Group Hospitality, Inc., will open in The Landing area of the new development, which replaces the closed entertainment district Pleasure Island.
STK will be a modern steakhouse, but will channel the atmosphere of a “sleek lounge”. Plans call for the restaurant to encompass approximately 14,000 square feet, two dining levels — and a DJ! This leaves us wondering — will STK make up for some of the night clubs we lost when Pleasure Island closed?
The DJ and lounge aspect sounds pretty cool, but we’re also looking forward to checking out the planned rooftop dining — the only such area slated for Disney Springs at present.
Interestingly, STK is the first announcement of a chain restaurant that we’ve seen slated for Disney Springs. Other locations include New York City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and London.
We are also hearing lots of rumblings about where Starbucks may be located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when it opens later this year.
While it hasn’t been officially announced, it looks like [Read more…]
