Welcome, friends! We’re back for another edition of What’s New at Magic Kingdom!
We can’t believe how quickly time has flown by since we were here for the grand reopening and how much has changed since our last visit!
Walt Disney World has been making cuts, delaying construction projects, and making health and safety changes around the parks recently.
This week alone, Disney made an official statement that the Spaceship Earth renovation and the new Mary Poppins attraction are being postponed. We just learned three new attractions that will allegedly close permanently.
The Disney Parks have officially reopened, but we’re still feeling the ripples of the closures.
We’ve been hanging out around EPCOT today checking out everything that’s changed since we were last here AND the 2020 Taste of EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. One hidden change we found was in the EPCOT Experience where the Spaceship Earth refurbishment and the upcoming Mary Poppins attraction have been removed from the “coming soon” video. Now, Disney has issued a statement about these two attractions.
Disney parks around the world are beginning to reopen.
Opening the same week as Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris will begin a gradual reopening on July 15th — but that’s not the only result of getting back to business. Construction has also resumed in the park on several highly-anticipated upcoming attractions, like the Marvel Hotel! Check it out.
We learned back in February Disney Springs would be getting its own lululemon store — a retailer with some seriously adorable and high-end athletic apparel!
Progress was made on the new lululemon location during the temporary closure, but now the stretchy pants shop just took a giant lunge forward!
We’ve been wondering a lot about how the historic closures of the Disney parks might affect the progress of Disney’s upcoming attractions.
Well, Disney just gave us a little bit of an update. With the recent announcement of a full re-theme of Splash Mountain in Disney World and Disneyland, Disney provided a little insight into how this project and the closures have affected projects such as Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure and TRON: Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom.
All Disney World construction projects stopped shorty after the parks closed on March 16th — which seems like such a long time ago!
But now that many of Disney’s resort hotels reopened on June 22nd, and the Disney World parks have opening dates — Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th followed by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15th — we’ve seen work on several job sites resume!
We’ve been taking in the sights of the newly reopened Disney World resort hotels this week!
And while earlier we had the chance to see a VERY pink Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom from our room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we’re checking in on another one of our favorite construction projects!
We’re back at Disney World for the first time since mid-March now that select resorts have reopened today!
And while the theme parks aren’t slated to reopening until next month, we’ve had the chance to go exploring and spot a few changes since our last visit to the hotels. That’s where we noticed this BIG change that was pretty hard to miss!

It’s been a while since we’ve seen construction progress at Disney World since all projects were put on pause shortly after the shutdown.
But today, we’ve seen a lot of action happening at the resort today as some hotels are preparing to reopen on June 22nd along with the theme parks on July 11th and July 15th. The Disney’s Skyliner gondolas are back out, not to mention the walls around Homecomin’s new outdoor Shine bar have come down!
