The first permits have been filed for Disney World’s massive Animal Kingdom expansion, and Magic Kingdom’s Beyond Big Thunder overhaul will breathe new life into the original Florida park. Bob Iger has a new plan for Disney parks, and we happen to be pretty excited about it.

NEWS: Disney CEO Bob Iger Confirms 2026 Exit

We weren’t the only ones shocked in 2022 when Bob Chapek stepped down as CEO of the Walt Disney Company and Bob Iger, who had previously retired as Disney’s CEO, came back to the role.

Since then, Iger has had his work cut out for him, including focusing on streaming as his #1 priority, as well as turning things around for the parks and dealing with the whole Reedy Creek situation. However, Iger won’t be sticking around as CEO forever, and now we know that Iger will be stepping down in a few years.

After Bob Chapek took over the role of Disney CEO, a number of big changes hit the Company. Rumors circulated of Iger’s return to make some adjustments. Iger claimed these were false, saying “You can’t go home again. I’m gone.” But that would prove to be untrue. Stories began to circulate about how Iger reportedly regretted picking Chapek as his successor. Chapek was ultimately ousted and Iger returned as CEO in 2022. Details about the transition from Iger to Chapek have long been discussed. But new information has since been shared.

Bob Iger Will Remain Disney CEO Through 2026

MAJOR news has been revealed about the future of the Walt Disney Company and its executive leadership.

Back in 2022, it was announced that Disney CEO Bob Chapek would no longer serve in that role and Bob Iger would return to the CEO position. Originally, Iger was only bought back for a 2-year term and he had previously indicated that it was his “preference” to remain on just for those 2 years. In fact, earlier in 2023 Iger said that there were “no plans” (at that time) for him to stay any longer. But, those who follow Disney closely likely remember how Iger repeatedly extended his term as CEO during his first tenure, ultimately staying on for MANY years. And now, we’re having a little deja vu…
