There have been rumors swirling, however, that Iger could return to the company in a BIG way. But just what does Iger himself have to say about it?

Recently, Former Disney CEO and Former Disney Chairman Bob Iger sat down and discussed some of these topics with the New York Times. Where could Disney seize opportunity in these arenas and what might the future hold for the Company? Here’s what Iger had to say.

According to the report submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (which requires the salaries to be released since Disney is a publicly traded company), in 2021 Chapek made $32.46 million, and Iger made $45.9 million. These numbers are more than double the 2020 salaries, which were $14.1 million for Chapek and $21 million for Iger. Why the huge change in salaries? Let’s take a look.

As one might expect from a Fortune 500 company, top executives earn a significantly high salary and compensation package. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 2021 salaries for Disney’s top two execs have been revealed.
The Walt Disney Company has seen several different leaders over the course of its long history. Most recently, we saw a shift in leadership from former CEO Bob Iger to now CEO Bob Chapek.

Bob Iger officially left Disney on December 31st, 2021, having stepped down from the position of CEO back in February 2020. Bob Chapek has been in the position ever since. But, before the two Bobs, there was CEO Michael Eisner, who was head of The Walt Disney Company for 21 years, from 1984 to 2005. And, Eisner was recently interviewed on CNBC, where he spoke about current CEO Bob Chapek, as well as Bob Iger.
You may remember that back in 2020, Bob Chapek took over as the new CEO of the Walt Disney Company, replacing the recently retired Bob Iger. During his time as the CEO, Bob Iger played a major role in the introduction of Disney’s streaming service Disney+. Since his retirement, a new Executive Chairman at the Walt Disney Company named Susan Arnold has been named as his successor.

Although Iger is no longer in the public eye, he continues to use his platform to speak about current events and important issues. On January 7th, he tweeted a special message about a former Disney board member.
Can you believe it’s almost 2022?! SO much has happened in Disney World this year, and we’re still waiting for some things to return after over a year of closure. After months of anticipation, Magic Kingdom celebrated its 50th anniversary, EPCOT introduced a new attraction, and two parks debuted new nighttime spectaculars (Enchantment & Harmonious). But there’s always something new around the corner, and there’s plenty to look forward to in 2022, too!

He remains Executive Chairman of the company until the end of 2021. Iger was the CEO of Disney for 15 years and had major accomplishments like acquiring Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm as well as opening Shanghai Disney Resort in China. Recently, the former CEO visited Disney World, and decided to share some appreciation for the cast members!
