Disney World a maaaajor vacation destination. To deal with SO MANY people so successfully is no small feat, and they accomplish it seemingly effortlessly. A BIG way they handle a lot of things? By tricking you to do what they want — and you likely don’t even know that it’s happening!
From carefully hiding the things they don’t want you to see to putting other things right in front of your face (usually in an attempt to get you to spend more money), Disney is pretty sneaky. Today, we’re sharing the ways that you’re being fooled by Disney World!
A lot has been on pause in Disney World over the past year.
Cinderella Castle
It’s been a while since we’ve seen fireworks, used a FastPass, or hugged a character; but those aren’t the only offerings we’re missing. It’s been a year since Annual Passes for Disney World were on sale. So, what’s the deal?
Disney World is constantly changing!
Spaceship Earth
We visit every day and we see changes ALL. THE. TIME. Well, with the weird year of 2020, The Most Magical Place on Earth looks pretty different than it has in years past. Here are all the ways Disney World has changed since you were last there!
We have a lot of questions for Disney World right now.
With potentially delayed attractions, health modifications, and mystery projects; a lot of things are BIG mysteries in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Well, Disney, we need answers to these HUGE questions!
The sale of Disney World Annual Passes has been suspended for quite a while now.
And although guests can buy them on 2 VERY specific conditions, most people who want a pass have been unable to purchase. This morning, though, there was a glitch on the U.K. Disney site that made it SEEM like you could snag an Annual Pass.
Disney World is constantly making changes.
We’ve seen changes made recently to Disney’s face mask policy. We’ve also seen refurbishments announced for rides and locations all over the parks, plexiglass added to more rides, and changes made to ride seating arrangements. Today we spotted another change — but this time the change is related to Disney World’s Park Pass Theme Park Reservation system.

Many Annual Passholder perks have been suspended since Disney World’s closure, but we’re slowly seeing them return.
There’s now discounts, exclusive merchandise, and free gear. Pretty cool, right? Well now, another perk has returned. When we were in Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we noticed complimentary Annual Passholder magnets are FINALLY back!
After being closed for nearly a year, Disneyland announced the end of their annual pass program.
Disneyland Entrance
Even though there is a new membership program in the works, and previous annual passholders are now referred to as Legacy Passholders, there are still lots of questions to be answered. Now, we’ve got another update on the future of Disneyland passholders.
During one of Disney’s quarterly earnings calls back in August 2020, it was revealed that HALF of the total attendance at Disney World at the time consisted of locals. And it’s probably a safe assumption that a LOT of those locals coming to the parks are Annual Passholders.
For Disney World, 50% is HIGH for Annual Passholder attendance on any given day. So if the demand is clearly there for Annual Passholders to be a part of Disney’s phased reopening, it would make sense for Disney to welcome even MORE Passholders into the fold. But to this day, new Annual Passes are still not for sale (with the exception of two specific groups of guests).
