Today we’re coming to you from Disneyland for another delicious DFB Video! And it’s time to talk about everyone’s favorite frosty treat — ice cream.
There’s no shortage of frozen treats in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. And while we would happily snack on Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars all day everyday, there’s more to explore beyond the iconic treat when it comes to ice cream in the ‘Land.
If you haven’t heard the big news, I’m here to deliver it: April is Grilled Cheese Month. And that, my friends, is a food holiday that we can totally get behind.
Because we know of a BUNCH of seriously worthy grilled cheese choices in the Disney parks and resorts that we can’t wait to tell you about!
And if you love what you see here, be sure to check out our 2017 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, which includes tons of bonus features, like fun food crawls throughout Walt Disney World!
Now pack your bags and your stretchy pants, cause it’s time to head to both coasts to partake in the Disney Food Blog Grilled Cheese Crawl!
(Should there be Rocky music playing here or something? I feel like there should be.)
Who’s coming with? Let’s go!
If you were there with us when Planet Hollywood Observatory opened (or actually, reopened) its doors earlier this year, then you know that we weren’t all that impressed with most of what we tried. But there was one standout: the Pimento Grilled Cheese.
The triple decker sandwich is two meals in one. First, you have a fairly traditional Grilled Cheese, spiced up with the addition of Pimento Cheese. But then, the second story involved super cheesy Mac and Cheese layered between crunchy Grilled Bread. Yep, that’s A Layer of Carbs on Top of More Carbs. And we are completely fine with that. During my recent visit to Disneyland, I decided it was time to check in once more with one of my favorite counter service spots, Pacific Wharf Cafe in Disney California Adventure.
The restaurant is located on Pacific Wharf (natch), and features a San Francisco signature item — Boudin Bakery’s famous Sourdough Bread — made in the bakery next door!
I really love the food here, and I’m especially partial to their hearty Soups served in Boudin Sourdough Bread Bowls.
On this visit, I figured it was time to introduce you to a few new flavors, though. So come with us as we explore some of Pacific Wharf’s other must-have menu items!
If you’ve spent any time on Cannery Row in Monterey, then Pacific Wharf Cafe will look familiar to you in terms of style. The restaurant is actually owned and operated by San Fran’s Boudin Bakery, a landmark of the city, dating back to 1849.
If you’d like to know more about the bread making process or the history of Boudin Bakery, be sure to take The Bakery Tour, which you’ll find just next door. (Yep — that bread baking smell isn’t piped in! They really really really bake fresh bread for the parks here every day!!! SO GOOD!)
Inside, the counter service stop is fairly straightforward in design. Warm wood paneling covers the walls, and exposed duct work echoes the industrial feel of the space. [Read more…]

I recently returned from Disneyland, where Dining in Disneyland expert Heather Sievers and I had the pleasure of being speakers at the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival! And we had so much fun sharing our tips on Secret Menu Items in Disneyland that we had to share all about it in our latest DFB Video!
We love allllll Disney food, obvi. But there’s something really awesome about those secret menu items that you’ve gotta know about to get.
Our Disneyland Correspondent Heather Sievers (you know her because she’s always Dining in Disneyland — and dining so well!) is more than up to the task of checking out new goodies. And this one happens to be on BOTH coasts right now!
In addition to hanging out with yours truly at the 2017 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, and trying out ALL. THE. THINGS at the Red Rose Taverne (which has temporarily taken over Village Haus to commemorate the release of Beauty and the Beast), she’s still keeping up with the regular stomping grounds, too. And that includes stops like the Candy Palace.
Because there’s still nothing like a classic Mickey cupcake. And Heather picked up this Cookies and Cream Mickey Cupcake recently. [Read more…]
You know how we feel about Dole Whip. It’s a love/love relationship. And Dole Whip loves us back by being so delicious.
So we were pretty excited when we discovered Pineapple-Flavored Cotton Candy at Disney California Adventure while there for the DCA Food and Wine Festival. (You’ll recognize Pineapple-Flavored Cotton Candy by the white and pale yellow stripes.)
Of course, like any cotton candy, it’s just sweet. Super sweet. But this version also has a bit of a pineapple flavor.
Greetings from sunny California! We’re coming to you from Disneyland where the 2017 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival is in full swing!
And the Festival is running EVERYDAY this year. So that means you’ve got from now through April 16th to try your top picks at this year’s FOURTEEN Festival Marketplace Booths.
To help you make your list, I’ve tackled each and every food item at ALL of them. Well, with the help of our Dining in Disneyland columnist and best west coast dine-around pal, Heather Sievers, of course!
Overall, we found the food to be fantastic. It was much better than last year, and much MUCH better than Festival of Holidays. They’re thinking outside of the box and experimenting a little with flavors, and I commend that. [Read more…]
We are bringing you LIVE coverage from the 2017 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival all weekend long!
