You heard about our Five Best “One-Credit” Table-Service Values last week, so I wanted to share what I believe to be the five best quick-service values today! These are my picks based on what you get for one quick-service credit on the Disney Dining Plan; they may not stand up as the best when we consider paying out of pocket.
Hopefully this will be useful to those of you heading down to the World for free dining this fall!
With the famous (and delicious) rotisserie chicken ringing up at over $14 plus tax, it costs more than some table service meals. Some of the salads and sandwiches alone will cost [Read more…]

StitchKingdom is reporting that Disney has applied for a patent that could mean the end of the beloved refillable mugs in Disney Parks and Resorts…or at least the end of the free refills…
The new “Self-Service Beverage and Snack Dispensing Using Identity-Based Access Control” system would mean that your Key to the World card — or even potentially your fingerprint — could do more than just get you into the parks; it could determine your fate as to how many refills of that Orange Fanta you can get next time you’re at Pop Century’s Food Court!
That’s right, Disney’s proposing using RFID technology to put an end to endless refills — unless you’re [Read more…]

One of Disney World’s most beloved counter service restaurants isn’t actually a Disney restaurant at all — it’s part of a chain of sandwich shops called Earl of Sandwich! We still love it, though, and couldn’t wait to highlight it here on the blog.
Atmosphere
Located in Downtown Disney’s Marketplace, Earl of Sandwich is a restaurant wrapped up in a history lesson. As the story goes, John Montague, the 4th Earl of Sandwich in England, invented the sandwich as an easy, eat-on-the-run (or while playing cards) meal. Today, the 11th Earl of Sandwich and his family have taken the name to new heights by developing Earl of Sandwich stores and selling high-quality, delicious sandwich varieties along with fresh [Read more…]

When you think “dining at the Boardwalk,” what comes to mind? Probably restaurants like Flying Fish, Kouzzina, the ESPN Club, and other table-service spots. But what if you’re in a hurry?
There are plenty of dining options on the Boardwalk for those who need to “eat and run!”:
Boardwalk Joe’s
For coffee drinks or pastries, Boardwalk Joe’s is the place to go.
Boardwalk Joe's
This is perfect for grabbing some breakfast before rope drop at Epcot’s International Gateway or getting your latte before a walk over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Boardwalk Joe's Menu
If you’re headed over a bit later, try a premium beer or a cocktail. You can even get some Bailey’s and Coffee — perfect for those chilly days!

Boardwalk Pizza Window
This is the “take-out” Boardwalk dining that most folks think of first. This used to be the Spoodles pizza window, and still remains in the same spot even though Kouzzina has now taken over the restaurant attached.

Boardwalk Bakery
The Boardwalk Bakery has a wonderful range of fresh-baked goodies available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hang around for a while and you might catch the bakers decorating a wedding cake or putting the finishing touches on a batch of brownies or cookies.

Boardwalk To Go Kiosk
This hot spot is rather new on the Boardwalk, but it’s another place to get a chili cheese dog, so it’s definitely on my radar! They also have my favorite snack — cheese fries. Heaven.

So where there used to be a dirth of quick-service food options on the Boardwalk, there are now a wealth of spots to grab a bite. And, don’t forget — if all you want is a bunch of candy or ice cream, Seashore Sweets is available to you as well!

Exciting news! Starting December 11th, 2009, the Aloha Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch will switch to Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends!
According to @DisneylandNews on twitter:
Beginning Dec. 11, the character breakfast at Disney’s PCH Grill will change to “Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey & Friends.” New breakfast buffet will include flatbreads from a wood burning oven & signature chilaquiles with shredded beef, salsa verde & queso fresco.

In light of Mickey’s and Minnie’s imminent move out of Disney World’s Fantasyland, I thought we’d take a tour through each mouse’s kitchen to glean whatever cooking and food-related tips and tricks we can before they take up residence elsewhere. Today, we visit Minnie’s kitchen!
First stop is Minnie’s bulletin board. Located just outside her kitchen, we get an idea of the kind of diet advice she’s giving out in her magazine:
A Note From the Fairies
Minnie's Response
And diets are clearly a concern for Minnie (guess she’s working hard on keeping that mouse-ful figure!). Here’s her little invention for keeping the calories at bay — “diet cookies.” You can have as many as you want, if you can get to them through the glass!:

Minnie's Diet Cookies
As we enter Minnie’s kitchen, there’s always a lot going on. This is the room where you’ll find the most interactivity in Minnie’s house, and for all her talk about diets, there’s nothing diet in here! Follow the crowd and see what Minnie’s making in her oven and microwave — there are really fun sound effects here, too:
We've Got a Cake Mixing Up for the Oven...
Another Cake is Just About to Rise in the Oven
That Cake Sure Rose Up Fast
Popcorn Flies Around the Microwave
Once you’re full of cake and popcorn, check out Minnie’s “WestingMouse” fridge to see what kinds of cheesy goodness she has today. Also, be sure to check out her favorite cookie recipe, “Cheesy Chip Cookies,” pinned up on the door.

All cheesed out? Check out what Minnie’s “put up” for the winter, along with a few of her prized cookbooks:

Interestingly, Mickey seems to have a candy company to rival Goofy’s…

And it’s fun to see what Minnie’s collecting — teapots!

Even the pots and pans are musical here! You can hear them banging and clanging in rhythm!

Finally, head out into Minnie’s sun room and see her prized buttercups…

Thanks for touring Minnie’s kitchen with us. We’ll be visiting Mickey soon, but I hear his kitchen’s being remodeled…something about a contest…
