As we mentioned in our First Look at Enzo’s, the “and Restaurant” was added to the name after Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar was originally announced. That’s when we realized the space would be serving full meals in addition to Prohibition era-style cocktails and offerings from the largest selection of “antique” and specialty rums on property.
The 2018 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival will be ON from March 2 – April 12, 2018!

But the time to start getting ready is NOW… Special Event information is now available for the Festival, and the booking engine is loaded with opportunities to reserve your space NOW for Signature Events, Culinary Demonstrations, and Beverage Seminars.
You can also check out experiences that don’t require reservations, such as Family-Friendly Seminars and the returning Jr. Chef experience for kids ages 3 to 11.
One of the Signature Events for 2018 is The Taste of the Festival, which allows guests to try items at the Festival Marketplaces the night BEFORE the Festival kicks off while enjoying music performed at the Palisades Stage. (A VIP enhancement is also available). [Read more…]
It’s not every day that I am surprised by a Quick Service meal at Walt Disney World.
But Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter has done just that!
French Quarter is the sister Resort to Port Orleans, Riverside, and while both are located along the picturesque Sassagoula River and share boats that carry guests to and from Disney Springs, the Resorts’ personalities are markedly different.
Riverside has a down-home, relaxed, on-the-bayou feel, with the Riverside Mill Food Court capturing the industrial spirit of New Orleans. The French Quarter, on the other hand, features the ornate wrought iron and colorful architecture of the French Quarter in New Orleans, while dancing jesters and musical alligators dotting the landscape provide more than a hint of whimsy.
The French Quarter’s primary dining option — alongside Scat Cat’s Club, where you can often catch live tunes along with your drink, and Mardi Grogs, the pool bar — is Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory. This quick service food court used to wow (and kinda creep out) guests with its massive Mardi Gras float decor suspended from the ceiling. It was colorful and busy with something new to discover on every visit.

A 2016 renovation gave Sassagoula Floatworks a total overhaul, so let’s check out what the space looks like now once again before we grab a bite to eat.
The colorful, oversized Mardi Gras props that used to hang from the ceiling from wall to wall still take some part in the Floatworks decor, only on a much more subdued level. Last year’s renovation delivered a more simplified and industrial design to the food court. Guests were torn about the change, with some lamenting the loss of such over-the-top theming, while others appreciated the streamlined and less markedly terrifying look. Either way, there is still color in concentrated amounts, and Mardi Gras details remain present (if much less conspicuous). [Read more…]
With so many new (and not-so-new, but still greatly loved) dining experiences in Disney Springs, it can be tough to decide where to make your precious Advance Dining Reservations.
So on a recent visit to Disney Springs, I checked out Paddlefish — this time in the dining room (as opposed to the top deck bar) to get an overview of some of the menu’s most popular items. And while most of it was good, some of it was great (and one item — spoiler alert! — was just bad).
Paddlefish is a brand new restaurant in an old, established building. You’ll recall that Fulton’s Crab House used to reside here, in the docked, multi-storied Empress Lily on Lake Buena Vista; and actually this spot has been a restaurant since 1977. When Paddlefish opened, guests were greeted with a combination of old and new. Neutral and trendy gray paint gave the restaurant a streamlined look, but some details of old remained, like brass railings and the fabulous sternwheel.
So what do you say? Shall we paddle in?

If you’ve been itching to get into The Edison, then you’ll be glad to know that reservations are now available on OpenTable.com for dates starting January 15th!

You can either visit The Edison website and link from there (as seen above), or visit OpenTable.com directly. In either case, reservations will be available daily starting at 11:30 am.
And remember when you are making your reservation that the spot will be family-friendly by day, but will be open only to guests 21 and over after 10:00 pm. Soft openings are currently taking place, but those will be open to walk-ups only when available.

You know this: I have never once argued against having CUPCAKES FOR BREAKFAST while on a Disney vacation. In fact, I maaaay have been known to encourage it from time to time.

Here’s how to score a Buy One, Get One Pizza (and by the way, this is good for all participating Blaze locations, not just Disney Springs)!
Remember the old days when grabbing some Counter Service Pizza in Disney World typically resulted in receiving a big pillow of not-super-great crust taking over half of the pie and not allowing for much in the way of toppings? Well, if you reeaaallly want to, you can still get plenty of that in spots like PizzeRizzo in Hollywood Studios.
But guests looking for something different from Counter Service pizza options could — and still can — rely on Wolfgang Puck Express, which serves pizza among lots of other popular menu items. But those were the old days. And now, we have two counter service spots that specialize in pizza: Blaze Pizza and the brand new Pizza Ponte.

What they share in common is location, with both in Disney Springs, not too far from each other at all. And they are both Counter Service joints (you don’t need an Advance Dining Reservation to grab some pizza at either place).
