UPDATED May 1, 2025
Listen, your 2025 trip to Disney World is coming up sooner than you think!
2025 is in full swing which means you’ve really got no time to waste making all the preparations for which hotel you’re going to stay at, the food you’re going to eat, and what’s going to go in your suitcase! But there’s one thing that might have missed your radar and that is closures at Disney World in 2025. We’ve got your back — which is why we’ve brought you a handy dandy list of them so you don’t have to do all the work yourself (we’ve got you)! Let’s go!
Let’s waste no time and dive right into the full list of important Disney World Closures in 2025 that you need to know about! Let’s go!
Magic Kingdom
Astro Orbitor
Folks won’t be able to Blast Off high above Tomorrowland for a while in 2025. The Astro Orbiter closed on January 13th, 2025 for refurbishment in Disney World.
The ride will not re-open until Summer 2025, according to Disney World’s website.
The Hall of Presidents
As expected, The Hall of Presidents has been added to Disney World’s list of refurbishments.
The show closed on January 20th to be updated, and there is currently no reopening date listed.
Indoor Children’s Playground — Dumbo the Flying Elephant
As of February 24th, the indoor children’s playground in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue is closed for refurbishment.
According to Disney, it is expected to reopen sometime in the Spring of 2025. The ride itself will remain open throughout this refurbishment project.
Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat
Have you heard the news?! TWO brand new CARS attractions are coming to Magic Kingdom! This is HUGE news, and comes alongside of a new Villains Land being announced for the park, as well. But, alas, with a BIG HELLO comes a goodbye…
The Rivers of America (home to the Liberty Square Riverboat) and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into this brand-new land coming to the park. That means that Cars land will be located in Frontierland and as Disney wrote will, “put our guests in the driver’s seat as we—quite literally—explore a new frontier in Frontierland.”
Though we do not have an official closing date just yet for these two classic attractions, Disney has confirmed that construction on this new area is expected to begin in early 2025. So if you get the chance, be sure to explore Tom Sawyer Island or enjoy a trip on The Rivers of America one last time!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed on January 6th, 2025, and won’t open again until 2026!
The message also notes that it will be reopening “with a little bit of new magic,” and we’ll keep you posted on what that means for THE WILDEST RIDE IN THE WILDERNESS as soon as it is revealed!
EPCOT
Test Track
If you didn’t already know, Test Track closed for a HUGE makeover back on June 17th.

Disney stated that this new version of Test Track takes its inspiration from an OG ride — World of Motion. Imagineers are adding new show scenes that will showcase technological advances and show “how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone.” You will take a joy ride through scenes focusing on onboard technology, customization, and personalization, ending with a trip through a scenic outdoor route.
At this time, a specific reopening date has not been announced, but Disney has shared that the attraction will reopen in late 2025, so it will be closed for a good chunk of the year.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
DinoLand, U.S.A.
A NEW LAND themed to the Tropical Americas is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in 2027. Get ready to step into Pueblo Esperanza! Pueblo Esperanza will become home to two signature attractions — an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride! A Carousel will also provide another ride option.
With the official confirmation of this upcoming land, Disney confirmed that what is now DinoLand, U.S.A. will be transformed into Pueblo Esperanza.
The closure of DinoLand will take place in phases, the last day for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures at Animal Kingdom was January 12th, 2025.
But DINOSAUR, the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will stay open for now, so there are still DinoLand memories to make, my friends! In fact, Disney has shared that, when it comes specifically to DINOSAUR, “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” So, if you want to ride Dinosaur at least one more time before it’s gone for good, make sure you plan a trip to Animal Kingdom in 2025.
It’s Tough to be a Bug!
It’s Tough to be a Bug!, which is presented inside the Tree of Life, is going away to be replaced by a brand new show, Zootopia: Better Zoogether! The new show will follow some of our fave Zootopia characters like Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, in a production that “will take guests on an adventure through different biomes seen in the film.”
Please be aware that the It’s Tough to Be a Bug! attraction, which was previously housed in the Tree of Life Theater is now officially and permanently closed at Animal Kingdom (as of March 17th, 2025) to make way for the new Zootopia show (for which an opening date is yet to be announced).

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Muppets Courtyard
Hollywood Studios is making way for a new Monsters, Inc. land! Monsters, Inc. Land will be taking over what is currently the Grand Avenue south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This area is also home to the Muppets Courtyard.
To that end, a phased closure of the Grand Avenue area will begin in May. The last day you’ll be able to dine at Mama Melrose’s will be on May 10th. Following that, Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will close on June 8th (with the last date to experience that attraction and restaurant will be June 7th). On June 8th, the Muppets Courtyard will be completely walled off and closed.
BUT this isn’t the end of The Muppets in Hollywood Studios. In fact, The Muppets will be moving to Sunset Boulevard and taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! The Muppets will be the star of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.”)
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Get ready to see “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” when it opens on May 27th, 2025! That’s right… Hollywood Studios is also getting a brand new Little Mermaid show that will replace the closed Voyage of the Little Mermaid show.
The story will be retold almost entirely from Ariel’s point of view and will feature two songs that weren’t in the previous show: “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl.” The show will feature live actors, puppets, digital animation, and even some live motion capture integrated together to fully replicate the underwater setting!
However, with the announcement of the new production, Disney confirmed that Voyage of the Little Mermaid is permanently closed in the park.
Disney World Water Parks
Disney World has two water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. These typically operate on a rotating basis, so — at this moment — when one is open, the other is closed.
Right now Blizzard Beach is open while Typhoon Lagoon is closed. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) that when one water park is closed, those rides and attractions will be completely inaccessible during your trip.
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is OPEN as of May 1st for guests to enjoy as Blizzard Beach has closed for its own refurbishment. But guess what…?!
Blizzard Beach will only be closed for a short time and will reopen on May 21st! Beginning May 21st through September 7th, BOTH Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be available for guests.
Disney World Resort Hotels
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be undergoing room refurbishment work from September 2024 to September 2025. You read that correctly — a whole year of construction work!
The main thing to note is that you will be seeing and hearing construction work in Bay Lake Tower and you might have to take detours, so just stay vigilant.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
Jellyrolls announced in February 2025 that it would be leaving Disney’s BoardWalk after 30 years of operation. And it’s final day in Disney World has come to pass: its final day of operation was Saturday, April 19th.
This isn’t the end of Jellyrolls, it’s just the final night to experience this location at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. The bar has shared that they are “making a move,” and we will keep you posted when any further information is revealed.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
The Grand Floridian lobby is getting a makeover! Disney Imagineers are approaching the updates carefully to maintain the “heart and story of the Grand Floridian, while adding fresh new life to the lobby for guests to enjoy,” and we have a FIRST LOOK:
Disney Imagineers will refresh the lobby, staircase, and front desk and introduce a brand-new lobby bar. The lobby will feature brand-new carpeting with Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork, “featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.” Work has already begun in the lobby of Disney World’s flagship Resort. It is anticipated to last through November 2025.
According to Disney, the lobby refurbishment is going to interfere with a longstanding Grand Floridian tradition. Because of the renovations, the traditional Gingerbread House display will not be available for the 2025 Holiday Season.
Disney’s Yacht Club
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is undergoing room refurbishment work from January 2025 through May 2025. It isn’t quite clear if the work will be a light refurb or a full-on reimagining of the rooms (we’ll keep you posted).
Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool (which are shared by Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts) are undergoing routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025. These pools are among the top favorites at the Disney World resorts.
The other pools at the hotel like the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools will still be open, so you can still spend your time relaxing at the pool.
Why You (Probably) Shouldn’t Stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort in 2025
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin
Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina is coming to the Swan and Dolphin! It will open in mid-summer. With this announcement, Walt Disney World Dolphin confirmed that Bourbon Steak will replace Shula’s Steak House in the Walt Disney World Dolphin. Shula’s Steak House will take reservations through June 14th, 2025.
Chef Mina is a well-known chef with restaurants all over the country, mainly in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has multiple Michelin stars and has a few restaurants in Florida, including Bourbon Steak in Aventura and Prime 54 in Miami Beach. We’re excited to see what Chef Mina is bringing to Orlando! So far, we know that the restaurant menu will feature a reimagined modern take on the quintessential American steakhouse with premium cuts of beef and seafood infused with global flavors, along with decadent signature desserts, and world-class beverage offerings.
