Closer to the end of 2023, Disney announced that they would be cracking down on password sharing for Disney+ accounts.
Disney+ certainly isn’t the first streaming service to do this either. Netflix began charging for password sharing in early 2023, and other streamers have followed suit with similar changes. However, Disney+ hadn’t put this change into effect yet…until now.
As of March 14th, Disney+ no longer allows users to share their password with members outside their household, which is determined as the devices used at the primary address entered for the account. Unlike Netflix, there is no way to pay an extra fee to password share at this time — it’s simply not allowed, and if Disney+ suspects you’re not complying with these rules, they can limit or terminate your subscription.
Disney notified existing subscribers last month, giving them about a month to prepare for this change. As you can imagine, these rules make things very troublesome for families who have more than one primary residence for whatever reason, parents who would like to share their account with their kids who may be in college/otherwise out of the house.
Hulu also introduced the exact same policy (since it’s also owned by Disney) on the same date, March 14th, so if you have both of these services, or the Disney Bundle, it’s important to know you now may be penalized if you’re sharing your password with those outside your home.
Here’s how to bundle your Hulu and Disney+ accounts

I own 2 houses, and I’m at both homes regularly! I’m not sharing my password with no one else. If they charge more I will cancel!!
When. will Disney plus passworld sharing not work. in the East coast. ( USA.
Hulu also works. pls find out and. post this info.
What if I’m streaming on my phone while I’m NOT at home? I do this often when we are waiting for Dr appointments, etc.
Are you “allowed” to use your password when you are vacationing on Disney property?
This is ridiculous Why can’t my son, who is in college in another state use my account? Disney+ rates have increased massively over the last year. As a subscriber I should be able to share my password with my immediate family. No matter where they reside
I travel alot and use my Disney+ account at hotels and resorts when I travel. This means I can’t watch my programs when I am away from my house, don’t like that at all.
I swear I remember that when they were first introducing Disney+, they were encouraging you to share with your family. Funny how they’ve forgotten that.
If they are doing that, they should have a family plan ready to go!
If they cancel you, then the loss is theirs. they lose future income. Makes no sense to me
We do the same. Netflix is much more accommodating.
“”Household” means the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein.”
Not only can we not watch Disney+ when traveling either in our RV, or using a Fire Stick in hotels, we also cannot allow our grandchildren to watch when they visit, as they are not “individuals who reside” within our Household.
They’re gonna love that.
I regularly use a VPN. Disney+ offerings vary by country, so I “move” to watch what I want.
I wonder what they will say to military families when one parent is deployed ovrrseas.
Should I cancel or wait for them to cancel me? They don’t seem to care how much they are charging their customers – my bill seems to increase every few months. It’s a lot more expensive than when I signed up for the service.
