From the immersive theming of the shop to the seemingly endless menu of delicious cookies and cakes, Gideon’s is sure to be a haven for your sweet tooth and curious mind. You can find Gideon’s across from Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, but be warned — there’s usually a line of people waiting for these giant specialty cookies. Let us assure you though, it’s worth the wait.
Each month, Gideon’s creates a specialty cookie and now it’s the Eternal Flame — a chocolate cookie laced with ancho, cayenne, cinnamon, and cherries. This one is only available during the month of February, though, as Gideon’s compares this spicy cookie to the eternal flame of love. Gideon’s just announced that for this Valentine’s Day, the Eternal Flameless would be added to the menu. The Eternal Flameless is inspired by its predecessor, but without the evident spice.
The post says, “Fine. Here’s your no-heat Eternal Flame. Now leave me be. ?”, so this cookie was probably made for those who wanted a specialty cookie without the spice! This chocolate cookie is made with house-made Ancho (super mild) and Cinnamon Spice Mix, infused with cherry and topped with Chocolate Covered Cherries and White Chocolate Chips. YUM.

You can grab this cookie until the end of February, so you have plenty of time to go grab some love in cookie form! Plus, it’s $6.

The cinnamon spice finishing off the cookie was NOT my favorite!!
We were in Florida first week of February for a family vacation, and I was so excited to go to Gideon’s Bakehouse to try their cookies! The Eternal Flame was one that I picked to try, and of the options purchased, it ended up being my FAVORITE! There was some definite heat in the cookie, evident after the first bite, but the heat paired nicely with the chocolate. The sweetness of the cherries both offset the heat of the spices while providing a great balance to the flavors. I was definitely sad I’d only purchased one of these delicious monthly speciality cookies on my trip! It was delicious and I would definitely recommend to anyone with an adventurous palate who isn’t afraid of spice in a cookie!
