Nowadays in Disney World, construction crews are as commonplace as Character Cavalcades!
With refurbishments and new developments taking place ALL over the parks and resorts, construction walls have become a frequent site. One prime example is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where not only are the rooms getting a major Moana makeover, but the Monorail station is getting a serious overhaul of its own!
Ever since the Monorail station at the Polynesian was demolished in January, we’ve been tracking its progress and providing updates.
Today, we swung by the resort for another look, and it’s still very much in progress!
The Monorail is still not stopping at the resort, and it’s clear that LOTS more work is needed at the station, but progress is clearly happening!
Inside the hotel, the platform is still fully blocked.
After a brief pause the other day, the Monorail still cruises through, but it’s not stopping for guests to get on or off.
There’s a lot of area surrounding the Monorail that is also blocked off and filled with construction equipment.
Needless to say, it still looks quite a ways off from completion, but work is still moving along! We’ll continue to keep you posted on Monorail news at the Polynesian, and MORE Polynesian news as the hotel prepares to complete its room refurbs!

Very exciting no doubt. The platform is being enlarged to the size of the Grand Floridian for sure. I wonder if it will be fin9shed by years end…? Disney construction is notoriously slow at best…
Do you think it will be complete by Ocy?
Pam, hopefully so. It was originally supposed to be summer 2021, so we’re watching anxiously to see when it resumes operations.
