We’ve been monitoring the status of this ride every time we go to Magic Kingdom, and there seems to be a pretty big update right in front of us!
There is a new track on Big Thunder Mountain!
New track!
We’ve been seeing Cast Members slowly remove the track, but now parts of the new track are officially in and looking as shiny as ever.

That dark piece of track to the left is the new piece, and we can’t wait to board our train and try it out.

Look at how pretty it is! Yes, only Disney Adults get excited over a new piece of roller coaster track.
Big Thunder Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain does not have a specific reopening date yet, but it will be closed through all of 2025 and reopen in 2026 with “a little bit of new magic.” That’s code for *Disney won’t reveal exactly what’s changing,* but we’re hoping the ride will be back and better than ever.
