Disney World is busy making ALL kinds of changes. In Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is getting an update, while Disney also works on building a new Cars expansion and Villains land.
In Hollywood Studios, a new Monsters, INC. land will replace Muppets Courtyard, while the Muppets will move to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and a new Villains-themed show gets ready to debut. Even Animal Kingdom is getting a new show AND a new land. Well, Disney World hotels are also changing, including Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, which just got a lobby refresh with some brand new furniture.
As a reminder, here’s what the lobby of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn looked like BEFORE.
Well, here’s what it looks like now.
The previously light blue sofas have been replaced with new sofas and plush chairs in a more sage green kind of tone. The pillows have been refreshed, too. However, the brown chairs with the striped backs have remained, although it does look like they were spruced up a bit, too.
The tables with the compass design on them and the marble-top table are also still there, although some new decor, like pretty vases, has been added. The overall look, though, is a little brighter.
In case you were wondering, though, the creepy nanny chairs are still up against the wall. These things are LEGENDARY by now, and Disney dares not to remove them.
The seating area by the nanny chairs also got a bit of a sprucing up. We’re loving the lighter green touches.
Also, the footstool is sort of shaped like Mickey! We always love the hidden Mickey details.
So, the next time you head on over to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, take a moment to appreciate the new look. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

What do you think of the BoardWalk Inn’s new look for the lobby? Let us know in the comments!
We have been DVC owners at the Boardwalk since 1996. Have always loved the lobby. I really like the update. I was afraid of Marriott Beige, but this kept the color and character of the place. What the Boardwalk needs is attention to the Boardwalk itself. It used to be a great destination all on its own. Not anymore. I suppose this is due to not wanting to compete with Disney Springs. Don’t get me wrong. I Love the Boardwalk. I just miss the vibe of the past.
The lobby to my favorite WDW resort! Well done, Disney. Pretty before and pretty now. Thanks for keeping the nanny chairs. Any chance of bringing back the clown slide? ? Get moving on the Boardwalk itself. Do something with the still empty Big River Grill space and tell us your plans for Jelly Rolls. My family has very fond memories of our stays at Disney’s Boardwalk. It remains our favorite resort, especially during one of the Epcot festivals.
Nice but I’m more interested in what is happening with Big River Grille and Jelly Rolls. Boardwalk is starting to look like a run down area. Not exactly what I paid for when purchasing DVC at Boardwalk.
Looks beautiful!! (Unlike the way the Belle Vue Room was completely trashed a few months back.) See, we’re not all opposed to all change, just BAD change! And in my opinion, even though I mourn the BVR, the new lobby looks really good!
I think Boardwalk has one of the most beautiful lobbies of any WDW Hotel – And YES, that includes the nanny chairs. They each have a name, but I can’t remember what they are. Great place to stay and close (walking distance) to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios
Wow! Disney actually DIDN’T use ugly gray, beige, and turquoise everywhere!! What a surprise!! How nice for a change!!
I agree with Rick and Randy. Love the update so happy they kept the Nanny chairs and yes that was the first question that came to mind. Most of all I wish they would bring back the Boardwalk entertainment. I was crushed to hear of the loss of ESPN, Big River and Jelly Rolls. We are seniors now and have been DVC members since 2006. It was always nice to be able to go out for some laughs and fun on the boardwalk and just walk back to the room. We still love Disney Springs and enjoy it with out Saratoga contract but the older we get the more we wish for the Boardwalk days of strolling after dinner and stopping in for nightcap and a few laughs, getting tickets for big game (meeting fans from around the world) and lets not forget the Big River; best afternoon drinks and appetizers!
Any of you Boardwalk Oliver’s remember “The Amazing John and The Boardwalk Buskers?” John was the guy in the Viking helmet who appeared in several of Disney’s pamphlets. My father and I used to catch every Boardwalk Buskers show that we could, twice on many nights, and laughed our heads off at the same old jokes. John’s humor was rapid fire, all professionally delivered. That was back when The Boardwalk was hopping!
Looks similar to the Beach Club, and I love the aqua blue/green colors!
It is too bad what Disney has done to the Boardwalk Resort Area. It started out as a uniques attraction among many, but now it seems to be looking its luster. Just not the exciting destination it once was…everyone is pulling out and the expensive cake store is not going to save it. It needs some new imagineer thinking.
The pictures look beautiful but all the descent restaurants on Boardwalk are now gone It looks like it’s all construction going on . It used to to be so family oriented especially after a long hot day at the parks It sounds like a bakery or something is taking over espn club but the prices are outrageous The Big River Restaurant is gone Hrlky roll gone We are going in July I fedl like the place is deserted
