From secret shortcuts to hidden details in concept art, we love hunting for those fine Disney details. We’re shouting with joy because Disney just shared a behind-the-scenes look at how they make one of our FAVORITE details come to life!
If you’ve never seen the Popcorn Turners in Disneyland, let us enlighten you! The Popcorn Turners are little figures that, you guessed it, turn the popcorn in Disneyland and Disneyland Park in Paris. This trend started in the original park in the 1950s before spreading to other Disney theme parks.
Oogie Boogie Popcorn Turner in Disneyland
Now, the Walt Disney Imagineering Team is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how these popcorn people come to life! Over on Instagram, they shared a video taking us through the process of designing, creating, and detailing these little friends you see around the parks.

To start off, you can see the Imagineers designing the concept for what each turner will look like before the building begins. The one the team is highlighting is a Classic Baseball player! You can also catch glimpses of other designs like Mr. Toad, the Statue of Liberty, and more!

Once they finalize the design, they show how they 3D print the model who will eventually turn the popcorn.

Next up, they paint the details onto the 3D-printed face to really bring the character to life. Look at how detailed the face is! That’s true artistry.

Once the face is finalized, the Imagineering team can be seen hand-stitching the clothes onto the small figure to get every seam just right. This baseball player is wearing nicer clothes than us!

Once he has his uniform on, this Popcorn Person is ready to head to the parks!
