What if we told you that you could easily walk over 10 miles in one day at Disney World? Yeah, so we know how important a pair of shoes is for the parks.
Shoes can make or break your trip because if you’re feet are miserable, so are you! You probably won’t want to wait in line at that attraction you’ve been talking about for months, and you might want to skip out on waiting for the fireworks.
There are a lot of different shoe brands on the market, but we happen to love wearing Hokas in the parks. We ordered a brand new pair and wore them for a week straight! Not to spoil our own story, but these might have to be at the top of your packing list.
We know Hokas can be a bit on the expensive side, but it’s for good reason. When you first look at the shoe, you might notice the thick soles, since that’s where you’ll get the most comfort.
After we broke in the shoes a bit, we noticed how much spring we got in our step from those thick bottoms! Disney World is almost entirely concrete, so it’s nice to have a thick layer between your feet and the ground. When we wore them, we actually forgot for a moment we were walking on that hard concrete because they felt so nice.
The spring in each step made us feel a bit like Tigger because we were bouncing a lot. We understand why runners love them — each step felt like we were going further than usual!
Another part we loved was how breathable they were. Florida can get hot, and yep, even your feet will get sweaty. The mesh on top helped the air flow onto our feet and definitely made our day more enjoyable.
Before they were fully broken in, we noticed a bit of rubbing on the top of our heels on the shoes, but wearing socks just a smidge higher fixed the problem. You also probably don’t want your first day wearing these shoes to be at Disney World. A week or two at home will make sure the shoes are perfect for your feet.
All in all, we wore these Hokas for multiple full park days, and we would do it again. Don’t underestimate the importance of a good pair of shoes when visiting Disney World; they can truly make your trip more enjoyable! I wore my Hoka running shoes (Clifton’s) to DW over Spring Break and it was a good call! 25K steps for 3 days in a row and my feet were fine. I had to buy my 8-year-old daughter a new pair of shoes at HS on day 2 because her poor little feet hurt so bad. Hokas are your feet’s best friend when you’re in the parks!
I don’t own anything but Hokas anymore. I am a fan of the Stinson and Bondis. They really make a day in the parks soooo much easier. They are springy, and help me last out the day.
