What’s better than a fun Disney souvenir? A fun FREE Disney souvenir!
During a recent visit to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort, we stumbled across a fun trivia game that ended with a prize! We’ve seen all kinds of fun souvenirs at Disney World, but this might be a new favorite.
During a recent visit to the hotel, we popped into Jackson Square Gifts and noticed a Hocus Pocus trivia game. Immediately locked in. What color is the potion that Max drinks in the graveyard? Oh, Disney, we’re so glad you asked!
After completing the game (we won, obviously), we were given this fun, exclusive button featuring Ray from The Princess and the Frog as a prize!
According to a Cast Member we spoke to, the shop has numerous quizzes which they rotate daily.
During the upcoming summer months, Port Orleans will also be one of the Disney World hotels to feature character meet-and-greets in the lobby. The characters will appear three days a week from 9:30 to 10:20 AM.

Hi. Spending 5 days at Port Orleans French Quarter so far I’m pleased. I leave on 04/26.
Here is my trivia question. What was the original name of Port Orleans – Riverside? It was Dixie Landings. It was a great name that well depicted it’s scheme. It reflected the vibe of staying at a charmingly elegant and peaceful resort. It was and still is a Dixie Landing, but that is lost in it’s name and billing now. When they paired it with Port Orleans they stripped Dixie Landings of it’s identity and downgraded it to a lower segment of the flashy and brash New Orleans resort. People are less interested in staying there. They keep the price lower to attract guests, but that only renders it even less interesting as nothing more than a cheaper section of the main and great New Orleans resort. I used to love staying at Dixie Landings. I quit because the elegant southern vibe it once had as a stand alone resort is gone.
Here’s your souvenir hack… buy outside of the park! I took souvenirs I’d been collecting for like a year prior to our trip, items I’d found on sale, etc.. then I’d set them on the table in our room every morning before we left out for whatever park (my husband would take the kids on out ahead of me), when we’d get back into the room after a full day at the park there would be their “Tinkerbell Treats” waiting for them! Also, the Christmas before we left for our trip (in January) a relative gave the kids Disney gift cards so they were still able to buy a special treat of their own choosing before we left!
