Shut them down, shut them down TODAY.
There are hundreds of restaurants in Disney World, and while many of them are pretty spectacular, some spots just need to be put out of their misery already. Today, we’re rounding up the list of Disney World HOTEL restaurants that we think should be closed, replaced, or boarded up, never to be spoken of again!
Outer Rim
First up, we’ve got Outer Rim, which is a lounge/bar at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s located on the fourth-floor concourse, but it’s definitely not living up to its potential, if you ask us! The decor is pretty plain, even though the name implies a fun space theme.
Our main complaint here, though, is the menu. There are no food items available, and the drink selection is fairly basic and not any more exciting than other Disney World bars. With such a prime location, this could be a hotspot in the evenings if Disney spruced up the decor and added some small plates to the menu.

Turf Club Bar & Grill
One of the most heavily disliked restaurants in Disney World is Turf Club Bar & Grill, located at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. This equestrian-themed spot has a pretty basic menu with American fare, from seafood to steak to burgers, as well as some simple appetizers and desserts.
The problem is that we’ve had some VERY mixed experiences here. In the course of one meal, we’ve had courses alternate between fairly yummy and abysmal, so it’s incredibly unpredictable overall. You may enjoy your meal or you may find it too salty, overcooked, or lacking in general flavor. Also, the theme is not nearly as immersive or fun as other spots at Deluxe Resorts.

Yacht & Beach Club Quick Service
And lastly, we’re lumping two restaurants together because they’re VERY similar. Beach Club Marketplace and The Market at Ale & Compass are the quick service spots at Beach Club and Yacht Club, respectively, and they’re rather disappointing when compared to other quick service spots at Deluxe Resorts.
Both of these restaurants are located INSIDE resort gift shops, and they serve limited options, mostly centered around refrigerated or pre-made food — you won’t be getting hot French fries here! Neither spot has much seating available, either. When compared to the awesome quick service options you can find at the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian Village Resorts, these just fall short.
There are SO many great places to dine around the Disney World hotels, it was actually a challenge to create this list. If you’re looking for delicious food in Disney World, we often recommend resort dining, and most of the spots are pretty stellar. Totally disagree on Turf Club. I have never had a bad meal there and as DVC members we stay at SSR often enough. Also, while the menu may not be exciting, all of the food is solid and it is a great place if you have a picky eater in the group.
Yall clearly have never had the Roast Chicken dinner from the Beach Club quick service
You are so right about yacht & beach marketplace. Yacht Club is the only resort we choose and the quick service menu is beyond horrendous. They really need to fix it.
Oh, I’m so glad to find kindred spirits. Sometime I just don’t know who did what to the report that they cut down great places.
We had some good food from the Marketplace and it’s great to take it to the outside tables (covered) to eat. We noticed the tables were always occupied with families, couples and singles all through our week there. Good, quick breakfasts and sandwiches all the way to dinners, as mentioned above. No votes for closures here!
I’ve never understood why Yacht and Beach have such limited quick service. I remember when the Yacht Club had no quick service at all, though. That was crazy as you had to walk over to the Beach Club or out to the pool for a quick meal. In reality Boardwalk isn’t that much better, so it’s as if that entire area just made quick service an afterthought. Maybe back in the day they assumed people would head into Epcot for a quick meal. Who knows?
Also I agree on the Outer Rim. We stayed at Bay Lake Tower a few years ago and found that bar menu to be very lacking.
Although the Market at Ale and Compass has a small menu, the cast members there are great. Last year I sat down to eat the chilli dog I’d just purchased and as I picked it up the sausage shot right out the end of the bun and onto the floor. I did a really long, slow motion “noooo” and the cast member who was cleaning turned round, swept it up and told me he was fetching another one for me.
