Over the past several years, Disney World has made some major hotel changes.
We’ve seen updated hotel rooms, refurbished lobbies, and even entirely new buildings added to some of the resorts. But one hotel that’s been getting perhaps the biggest and longest overhaul of all of them? The Grand Floridian Resort! This hotel refurbishment has been going on for YEARS now, and they’re culminating the changes with a big update to the lobby…which includes a new lobby bar.
The Grand Floridian lobby refurbishment is perhaps the most highly anticipated part of the changes that were planned for the resort, and Disney has saved that big part for last. And now, as part of that construction, they’ve announced the NEW Grand Floridian Lobby Bar.
This lobby bar will be located across from the cage-style elevator, and will be inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage. Disney says, “The bar will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents.”
Continuing the birdcage theme, you’ll spot colorful birds in the stained glass and murals throughout the atrium. You’ll be able to enjoy all these new touches with a delicious drink in hand — just imagine sitting in the lobby with your beverage while you take in the sounds of the Grand Floridian pianist!
Based on the concept art, it appears as though the new lobby bar will be replacing the birdcage. The bar itself has an overall cage-like theme. (Are WE the birds in the cage now?!) The lobby itself will be getting new carpeting and updated furniture.
We’ll keep you updated with more information on these changes as they’re announced. Check out our video below on new hotel rules for Disney World.

I hope they find another location for the gorgeous bird cage. I realize it took up a lot of useable square footage and a lobby bar is a great addition, but the cage has been a key element of the lobby.
I really wish they’d stop with all of the bars/lounges in WDW. They make lots of money from it, but I am getting tired of seeing all the drunken behavior. What happened to the wholesome, family environment? I love the updates and changes, but the Disney Magic is slowly disappearing.
Leave the Floridian Lobby the way it is. Another bar. I thought that young people are not drinking like their parents did in the past. The bird cage is beautiful. I staid at the Floridian for a number of years. I also don’t like the make over of the rooms. Does every hotel room have to have a Disney theme? This used to be an elegant hotel.
no more bars how about family fun like it use to be a long time ago
So will the bar, the Enchanted Rose Lounge, upstairs be closed? Thank you!
