Are you headed to Disneyland in May?
It’s going to be a great time to visit the West Coast. You’ll have nice weather before things get too hot (maybe, depending on the weather’s mood), the 70th Anniversary Celebration (and we’re guessing some AMAZING 70th anniversary snacks) to look forward to, and all kinds of NEW and returning things to mark the occasion. So we’ve got all the major changes you’ll get to see if you’re visiting Disneyland in May 2025!
May the 4th and Season of the Force
If you’re visiting the first week of May, we hope you love Star Wars because the Season of the Force runs through May 11th. That means you’ll get to enjoy all kinds of EXTRA Star Wars fun in Disneyland, including some special snacks from a galaxy far, far away. You might even still be able to get tickets for one of the last few Star Wars Nite events, an after hours event that goes even further to celebrate Star Wars.
However, May the 4th is also usually a HUGE deal in Disneyland, so expect there to be special snacks and events just for that one day! May the Force Be With You.
ALERT! Disney Brings Back EXCLUSIVE Fireworks Show!
70th Anniversary Decor Everywhere
As we previously mentioned, Disneyland will be celebrating its 70th birthday. The celebration begins on May 16th and runs through summer 2026. That means you’ll see the special 70th anniversary decor in May, including the glow-up on Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Main Street Railroad Station will also be getting a new 70th Anniversary update.
Plus your photos with characters will look different because they’ll all be sporting special looks for the big party.
Everything will be focused on “Celebrate Happy” — and the park decor will reflect that. Even some Cast Members will be getting new name tags to honor the celebration.

Ride Updates
Some of your favorite rides will also be changing in May, including “it’s a small world,” which is reopening on April 25th with the addition of Miguel and Dante from Coco. However, the ride will be changing May, too, because it’s getting an exterior projection show on May 16th in honor of the 70th Anniversary Celebration.
Over in Disney California Adventure, Toy Story Midway Mania will be getting some nods to the 70th anniversary.

New and Returning Entertainment
Although we’re still a little sad that Disneyland seems to have put the Magic Happens parade on hold for now, you’ll still get to see some pretty awesome entertainment starting in May. The Paint the Night parade will return on May 16th as part of the 70th Anniversary Celebrations, as will the Wondrous Journeys nighttime show.
In California Adventure, World of Color will be getting an update (WITH THE MUPPETS AND Boyz II Men!!!) and become World of Color Happiness, while the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade will return.
Will Disneyland Ever Bring Back the Main Street Electrical Parade?
So as you can see, if you’re headed to Disneyland in May, you’ve got all kinds of NEW and returning things to enjoy. Have fun!
