Disneyland is almost ready to celebrate its 70th anniversary, and we can’t to experience all the offerings — new and returning!
To enhance this milestone anniversary — which will be celebrated May 16th, 2025 and wrap up in the summer of 2026 — Disneyland is introducing some new show and character experiences in addition to bringing back some fan-favorite experiences that have since left the resort over the years. Speaking of returning goodies, there are some now-defunct Disney snacks we hope make their return as part of the celebrations.
The Disneyland Resort is teasing some surprises for the 70th anniversary celebration, which will likely include snacks! While we wait to see what exactly will be offered, there are three snacks we sorely miss and hope return during the festivities.
Fudge Easter Eggs
The Easter season is here at Disneyland, and we already confirmed that the famous Fudge Easter eggs won’t be returning in 2025.
HOWEVER, as we previously mentioned, the 70th anniversary will be celebrated well into 2026, meaning this special treat could return in the spring of 2026.
These eggs were so popular that — last year — they could only be ordered via Mobile Order on the Disneyland app. Last year, the eggs were only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
In years past, we’ve seen this delicious egg feature flavors like Chocolate Nut, Vanilla Nut, Chocolate Cream, Black Walnut, and Peanut Butter Fudge. The eggs were eight ounces in size, making this treat worth the trek to “The Happiest Place on Earth”. We miss this delicious treat and hope it returns in 2026.
Caramel Apple Funnel Cake
Once served at the Hungry Bear Restaurant (now known as the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree), the Caramel Apple Funnel Cake has been missing — and has been missed — for years now. If Disneyland is trying to bring back fan-favorites as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations, this is a prime candidate.
Debuting in 2014 for Halloween Time, this phenomenal dessert was made fresh to order and was enormous. Topped with powdered sugar and caramel drizzle, a generous scoop of perfectly cubed and fresh granny smith apples really elevated this treat into something truly unforgettable.
Tasting like a freshly dipped warm gooey caramel apple mixed with homemade whipped cream, this funnel cake was light and fluffy and featured that famous Mickey shape. We miss this so much, Disney — please bring it back!
The Previous Version of the Monte Cristo Sandwich
The Monte Cristo Sandwich at Cafe Orleans is still popular to this day — for good reason — but it used to be even better.
Back in 2021, Cafe Orleans changed how it served the Monte Cristo, switching to half-sized portions. Before the pandemic in 2020, Disneyland served this sandwich in four hefty slices — enough to share with a few folks. Now it’s served in just two.
The original also used to come with a handful of grapes, as well. You can now get the Battered & Fried Triple Cheese Monte Cristo Sandwich (brie, swiss, and mozzarella with seasonal preserves and choice of pommes frites or petite salad) or the Battered & Fried Monte Cristo Sandwich (sliced turkey, ham, and swiss with seasonal preserves and choice of pommes frites or petite salad) for $25 each. They’re both still worth getting, but we’d love to see Disneyland embrace tradition with this one and go back to the OG for the 70th anniversary.
We’re excited to see what Disneyland has in store for this massive celebration! Be sure to stay tuned right here at DFB for all the latest Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration updates!
