Disney’s Pop Century Resort has been undergoing a pretty extensive refurbishment in Everything POP!, the main dining location, for many months now.
We’ve gotten to see the new design come to life, and to be honest, we’re fans of it! But that’s not all — the hotel recently announced that multiple new menu options would be arriving at the dining spot soon, and we just got a chance to try two of them out and see if they’re really worth your hard-earned money.
Both of the new options we got to try are ice cream based, and as expected, we found out firsthand just how FAST they melt on a hot day! Especially the Fruit-flavored Cereal Shake for $7.99. This is a non-alcoholic vanilla shake blended with fruit-flavored cereal and strawberry topped with strawberry-marshmallow whoopie pie, whipped cream, and cherry.
The main flavor here is definitely the vanilla, and while it has a hint of strawberry flavor, it’s mostly from the whoopie pie on top. If you scoop the sides of the cup, you’ll get more of the blue raspberry flavor as well.
This truly does taste like a Fruit Loop and we think it’ll be a big hit for kids! It can be pretty messy as it does melt fast, but we do appreciate that the consistency of it is more of a true, genuine milkshake. Sometimes, when we get shakes, specifically during EPCOT festivals, they have a different texture because the festival booths may not have the equipment to make a true shake, and we’re glad Everything POP! does!
Our second item was the one we were really curious to see if it would be worth the price tag, because the Ice Cream Truck Sundae is $27.79! This is your choice of soft-serve with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, cherries, and SNICKERS bar pieces served in Mickey’s Ice Cream Truck.
Now, the main reason for this cost is, of course, the souvenir it comes with, and don’t get us wrong, it’s ADORABLE! We really appreciated that the ice cream was inside a plastic tub that sits right inside the ice cream truck, which majorly avoids mess.
On the ice cream sundae truck, you’ll get a chance to see Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Chip & Dale, who all look ready for their ice cream work day. We first saw this in Disneyland so we’re glad to see it at Pop Century, too!
Plus, see that ice cream on top? That’s actually a spoon hidden inside the souvenir! That might have been one of the coolest parts overall, in our opinion.
So yes, the souvenir is cute as can be, and if you’re looking to have it displayed on a shelf, use it to hold pencils on your desk, etc., then we say this is worth it. However, the ice cream sundae itself was nothing super special. We did enjoy the Snickers pieces included in it, as it helped bring a different, crunchier texture into the mix, but it’s not anything we’d write home about.
If you’re just looking for a good ice cream sundae and don’t care about the souvenir, this is NOT what we would recommend getting. Really, we think this is only worth it if you feel like you HAVE to have the ice cream truck to remember your trip/add to your Disney collection. Next up, we grabbed the Totally Orange for $6.49!

The Totally Orange Cone!
This guy was a fun, Pop-esque experience! It was a great creamsicle flavor. It has a nice vanilla flavor mixed with a tart orange flavor.

A scoop!
The freeze-dried Skittles added a really interesting textural experiment by exploding in our mouths! It was a fun snack, and we loved how different it was from your run-of-the-mill vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Finally, we grabbed the Cake Bar for $6.29.

The Cake Bar!
This Orange Cake Bar was buttercream and Skittles freeze-dried candy on top. The icing is the main flavor with a bit of citrusy flavor to it. The cake itself was supposed to be orange flavored as well, but it was really lacking in that area.

The inside
The cake reminded us of a chocolate chip flavor without the chocolate. Overall it was disappointing and isn’t something we would go out of our way for.
