Staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a bucket-list experience for many Disney fans, and we finally got the chance to check it off ours.

Disney’s Grand Floridian is one of the most luxurious hotels on property, and we got to specifically enjoy the DVC resort studios which are Mary Poppins-themed with subtle nods to Mary Poppins Returns. Let me tell you, the details are stunning, and now, we’ve got talk about the things that impressed us the most about our stay.
The Views Are Absolutely Breathtaking
One of the best things about staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian is the view, and these rooms take full advantage of that. Our room had a balcony with an incredible view of the Seven Seas Lagoon, and at night, we could see fireworks from Magic Kingdom right from our balcony.

Watching the boats float by in the morning with a cup of coffee was absolute perfection.
The Thoughtful Mary Poppins Details Everywhere
If you’re a Mary Poppins fan, you’re in for a treat. These rooms are filled with hidden references to the iconic film.

The wallpaper in the coffee station features characters from Mary Poppins Returns, along with tiny umbrellas woven into the design.

The gold chandelier in the main room has small glass birds, just like the ones Mary interacts with.

Even the vents in the room are themed—hiding both a hidden Mickey and more umbrellas!

The Gold Accents Make the Room Feel Extra Luxurious
From the moment we walked in, we could tell this wasn’t just any Disney hotel room.

The brushed gold accents throughout the space give it a refined, elegant feel. The nightstand lamps have delicate gold trim, and the bathroom mirror? Well, it’s framed in gold and has built-in lighting that makes getting ready in the morning feel extra fancy.

Even the artwork next to the TV and sofa has a gold touch, depicting what looks like Cherry Tree Lane with Mary Poppins herself soaring above.

Hidden Surprises in the Room
We love a good Disney Easter egg, and this room was full of them. Beyond the hidden Mickey in the vent, we also found tiny umbrellas on the nightstand lampshade, adding even more to the subtle Mary Poppins theming.

The artwork across from the beds features a landscape that gives major Cherry Tree Lane vibes, with Mary Poppins floating above. Every time we looked around, we found a new detail to admire.
The Bathroom Feels Like a Spa
Okay, let’s talk about this bathroom. The mirror alone deserves its own award—it’s massive, framed in gold, and has built-in lighting that gives it a glow. The vanity area continues the brushed gold theme, paired with beautiful watercolor artwork.

And let’s not forget the shower—spacious, well-lit, and stocked with Disney’s signature products.

The Room Design is Both Elegant and Functional
One thing we really appreciated about these rooms was how well they balanced luxury with functionality. The beds had nightstands on either side, each with their own outlets and built-in shelves—super convenient for charging devices.

The beds were also tall enough for luggage to be stowed underneath, which helped keep the space uncluttered.

The room also had a small desk, a sofa that folded down into a daybed (perfect for extra guests), and a mini-fridge.

Everything was designed with guests in mind, making it a comfortable stay without sacrificing style.
The Resort’s Pool is a Great Way to Relax
After a long day in the parks, there’s nothing better than unwinding by the pool, and the Grand Floridian’s pools are fantastic.

There are two pools to choose from—the Beach Pool, which has a waterslide and waterfalls, and the Courtyard Pool, a quieter option perfect for relaxing.

Whether you’re looking for fun or just want to lounge in the sun, the resort pools add another level of luxury to your stay.
The Resort’s Location and Perks
Beyond the room itself, staying at the Grand Floridian comes with some serious perks. Since it’s a Monorail resort, we could hop on and be at Magic Kingdom in just a few minutes.

The resort also has a walking path to Magic Kingdom, which was a great option after a long day in the parks.

And let’s not forget about the dining—Grand Floridian has some of the best restaurants on property, from the upscale Citricos (which also has a subtle Mary Poppins theme) to quick-service options like Gasparilla Island Grill.

Staying in the new DVC resort studios at Disney’s Grand Floridian was an experience we won’t forget. The attention to detail, elegant design, and unbeatable location made it one of the best hotel stays we’ve had at Disney World. Whether you’re a Mary Poppins fan, a Disney Vacation Club member, or just looking for a deluxe resort with a little extra magic, these rooms are absolutely worth considering for your next trip.

I agree 100%. I just stayed at the Grand Floridian the last week in March. I stayed in a DVC resort room. I was just blown away. Even though it was just me, I liked the idea of having 2 beds and a sofa. That sofa is huge. I will definitely stay there again.
Though the Grand Floridian is one of my favorite if not my favorite hotel and I’ve traveled both National and Internationally I find the GF well over priced. Yes it’s beautiful and convenient to Magic Kingdom, but a few draw backs besides the price. Parking – this is becoming a problem. On our last trip (March 2025) we had to park across the street due to capacity issues and if there is a wedding going on then forget about it. When you have to switch rooms due to a split reservation they say they will take care of checking you out and then back in. This has happened twice and neither time did they accomplish the task. So I had to break away and do it myself after getting a text saying they didn’t do it with no explanation. Everything at the Hotel is over priced from ice cream to bottled water. However the most ridiculous thing is a price for a room per night. I’m not sure besides years of saving g how an average middle class family affords to stay there. All in staying at the GF is about $1400 x $1600 per day including room, poolside drinks, eating at one of their restaurants, and evening drinks not including anything bought at one of their shops.
FYI we have been going to Disney World since 2003 and have stayed at the GF about. 16 times.
I made the mistake of staying there the 1st time w my wife at time & our two young girls. It was to be 1 time splurge. How wrong we were. Once you’ve been it hard to stay elsewhere. Many great trip later I’ve since remarried… Told my new wife to all about GF. So we book. Little did she know I proposed 1st night there in front of the castle. And we eloped in the GF Wedding Chapel 3 days. I somewhat had it all planned.
Only bad part it was just coming out of Covid pandemic so it was just us and family watch via live video stream.
GF is a Magical place to stay would be understatement. So blessed.
I stayed there for a 70th birthday splurge with my friend. Best two days I’ve ever spent at a Disney Resort.
I wouldn’t stay at the Grand Floridian because I only use my room to sleep and shower. I’d rather spend my money on an experience. A great restaurant or an upgrade on airplane ticket.
I would spend more on my food or a souvenir.
