Let’s find out from you if you think the Muppets re-theme going to be worth all the commotion, or if it’s another questionable Disney decision.Just in case you missed it, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting another major re-theme, and this time, it’s the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster that’s taking center stage — meaning it’s time to say goodbye to Aerosmith and hello to the Muppets.
Yes, the Muppets are taking over the high-speed coaster, and as you might expect, Disney fans have some very strong opinions about it. So, let’s talk about what’s really going on here. Is the Muppets re-theme going to be worth all the commotion, or is it another questionable Disney decision? Here’s what some of our readers had to say.
Some Fans Think It’s a Total Disaster
For some Disney die-hards, the idea of swapping Aerosmith for the Muppets is not just disappointing—it’s downright tragic. For example, Bill was not shy about his feelings, saying, “This sucks!! Disneys destruction of the parks is underway – just see EPCOT.” That’s a bold take, but it echoes a growing sentiment among those who feel that Disney’s recent park changes have been less about preserving nostalgia and more about making big shifts that don’t always land well.
Ron took a different approach, joking (or maybe not?) about how long it might take for this project to actually happen: “2035, 40 if you’re lucky.” Given Disney’s track record with ride closures and lengthy refurbishments, this is not an entirely unfounded concern.
Meanwhile, some fans are worried that the Muppets aren’t the best choice for a ride of this scale. DFB reader Celine wrote, “I think this is a terrible idea. I like the muppets but they are very much outdated. Much of today’s younger people have no idea who they are.” This has been an ongoing debate—are the Muppets still relevant? While they hold a special place in many Disney fans’ hearts, there’s no denying that they don’t have the same mainstream appeal they once did.
Others Are Just Confused About the Match-Up
It’s not just about the Muppets themselves—it’s about how they fit with a high-speed, looping roller coaster. Kim put it bluntly: “Terrible decision. Guess they are trying to keep adults from coming who don’t have kids. I do love the Muppets, but to put with a legit high-speed roller coaster in the dark that even has inversions, and one that only adults and kids tall enough (who would not be familiar with the Muppets) can go on as it is?”
That’s a fair point. The Muppets have mostly been associated with family-friendly, all-ages attractions, like Muppet*Vision 3D. But a roller coaster that goes from 0 to 57 mph in less than three seconds? That’s a whole different energy. Some fans are struggling to see how the Muppets fit in with that thrill factor. Ashley shared similar skepticism: “While I do love Muppets 3D…THIS is what they land on for the re-theming of Rockin Roller Coaster? I hope it’s great, but I’m feeling super skeptical at the moment.” It’s safe to say that many Disney fans are in wait-and-see mode.
Some Fans Have High Hopes
Of course, not everyone is against the change. Some readers are cautiously optimistic and hoping that Disney really goes all out with this re-theme. Hank had this to say: “Hoping Disney raises the bar with this retheme and does not just swap things. They could do amazing things with this!!” That’s an important distinction. A simple re-skin with a few Muppet cutouts and some new music might not be enough. But if Disney really invests in making this a full-scale, immersive Muppets experience, it could be something special.
Andrew even threw out a fun suggestion: “I’d love a Sweetums meet and greet near the coaster.” Now THAT would be a fun addition. Imagine a full-on Muppets takeover of the area around the ride, complete with character interactions, themed snacks, and maybe even some live entertainment. If Disney is going to do this, they should go all in.
The Big Question: Is This the Right Move?
At the end of the day, the reactions to the Muppets re-theme are as mixed as they come. Some fans are excited, some are furious, and others are just confused about how it’s all going to work. Donna brought up another valid concern: “Awful news for people like me and children who can’t ride Rock n Roller Coaster. We won’t get to see the Muppets. It’s so sad.” This is another tricky aspect—if you’re a Muppets fan but not a roller coaster fan, you might end up feeling left out.
So, is the Muppets roller coaster going to be worth all the commotion? That’s still up for debate. In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what Disney cooks up for us.

The only reason the Muppets “don’t have the same mainstream appeal they once did” is because, like so many other things in its unrivaled catalog, Disney has badly neglected the IP. Whether it’s deliberate, due to incompetence or merely neglect Disney has been destroying shareholder value for decades which is clearly reflected in its appalling stock price.
I cannot ride roller coaster anymore, but the Muppet music playing on that ride is going to be great. Muppet are wild and the music fits the ride. Kids of all ages know the Muppet, they are still relevant in all ages. Those little one will grow tall enough to go on the ride and will enjoy linking their younger days with the now grown-up days . What a great conversation can be had. Remember when we could only sit in a show and hear a little of Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayham band, now we get a fast ride and the band all the way. I do hope Disney can get this done by 2027 at the most. They have a lot on their plates right now, but here is hoping.
LOL @ all the people saying “I LOVE the Muppets, but nobody knows who they are!” Isn’t this all rather the point? To preserve The Muppets and introduce them to new generations? My children are young adults now, and they love The Muppets – because they found out who they are, and they’re a timeless bunch!
Sorry, don’t like this retheme at all, seems out of place.
To the people saying that the Muppets are outdated… Aerosmith doesn’t exactly resonate with anyone under 35-40 at this point any longer either. It has been a while since they released an album (13 years to be exact), so it isn’t like they are at the forefront of the public consciousness at this point either… at least with the Muppets they control the IP and can create new content if they so desire.
