March has been a pretty wild month when it comes to Disney announcements!
We just learned about some HUGE news for Disney’s Hollywood Studios — a new Villains show and new Little Mermaid show are both opening on the same day — May 27th! And Disney announced an extended closure and big changes to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom!
Not to mention we also heard big news about Southwest doing away with their two free checked bag policy, which very well may adjust people’s plans to fly to Disney World, and Amazon’s Big Spring Sale and Target Circle Week are currently going on, which are a great way to save on essentials for your next trip. However, there’s one announcement over in EPCOT that REALLY shocked people, and it’s still controversial even after a few weeks of being out!
Just last week, Disney revealed new information about the Spaceship Earth Lounge we’re getting in EPCOT. We’ve seen construction happening in this area for the past few months and have known the new lounge was coming, but didn’t have many additional details other than some concept art.
However, not only did Disney announce the NAME for this new lounge, which will be GEO-82, and while it’s not confirmed, it’s expected because the park, and Spaceship Earth itself, opened in 1982. But that wasn’t all…
Disney confirmed that this lounge will be reservation-only and will only allow guests that are 21+ to dine and drink inside. Yes, this means that this will be an adults-only area, and while many Disney fans were thrilled by this news, just as many were very upset. Many families said they’re disappointed they won’t be able to take their children in to see this exciting new spot, while other adults shared that they’re relieved to have an area that’s adults-only in the park.
While this was a pretty big shake-up, there’s another piece of news from over in Disneyland we feel is also important to note due to its shocking nature — Disneyland announced that their iconic and beloved fudge Easter eggs would NOT be returning this year!
These are so popular they’re often only sold on certain days around the Easter season, but we confirmed with Cast Members that the treat wouldn’t be returning this year. We’re personally devastated by this and are hoping they’ll come back next year, because if you’ve never had one of these eight ounce eggs, it’s a must-try at least once!
