Alright, I’ll admit it. I lost my MagicBand+ charger. Look, I have a lot of cords and cables to keep track of, and they all look the same. I’m a writer, not an IT expert. But I had a trip to Disney World planned, and it didn’t hit me until I started packing (the night before I left…don’t judge me) that my MagicBand charger was missing, therefore making my MagicBand+ (basically) useless.

But then I thought to myself, “No biggie! I’ll just buy another charger when I get to Disney World.” Oh, Madeleine, you are so, so wrong.
While MagicBands aren’t required for a Disney vacation, they make life a lot easier. It’s easier to get into your hotel room, easier to redeem your Lightning Lanes, and easier to enter the parks with one of these on your wrist. I’ll admit, by the end of the day, I’m ready to rip that thing off my wrist, but still, I can’t deny the convenience.

MagicBands!
The new MagicBands are called MagicBand+ because they have some extra features compared to the older designs. They light up, sync to attractions and fireworks shows, and interact with decorations in the parks. They’re also pretty expensive — we’re talking $35–$70. So, this isn’t really the type of souvenir I need ten variations of; I’m good with just one.

That brings us back to my predicament: the missing MagicBand+ charger. My MagicBand came with a cable when I first bought it, so I assumed the charging cords were also sold separately. WRONG.

I visited TONS of Disney gift shops all over Disney World — hotel gift shops, mega-stores like World of Disney and the Emporium, and even those little stores you hit when you exit a ride. Nada. Not a single MagicBand charger in sight!

Finally, I consulted a Cast Member. Where are all the MagicBand+ chargers? After a bit of stock searching on her iPad, she concluded that Disney no longer sells MagicBand+ chargers separately. WHAT?! Well, you know what that means. Time to go to Amazon. I got myself a new cord and a MultiCharger for MagicBand+ and vowed NOT to lose my new cord EVER AGAIN! Disney does NOT have your back if you come unprepared.

We still are using our old free Magic Bands from many years ago! I will be very sad when we have to purchase the new Magic Band plus! I think it is a true lack of customer service on Disneys part that they don’t stock replacement cords and chargers for this new Magic Band.
I stopped using MagicBands years ago. They kept falling off my wrist, and I would NEVER feel it falling off. Like, I’d look down at my wrist and the band is missing. Inconvenient, if you ask me.
Do the magic bands plus work without charging it? Such as if not charged, do the room key, park tickets, and paying for merchandise still work?
Hi Stacy! Yes, even if your MagicBand+ isn’t charged, it can still function as your theme park ticket, Disney Resort hotel room key, and for making purchases. The charging feature mainly impacts the band’s lights, haptics, and some interactive features.
I would have asked at the hotel front desk/lost and found…I know people borrow phone chargers all the time doing that
What I’m worried about losing is the chargers that the MB+ actually clips into (the cradles?). There are replacement versions on Amazon, but it looks like a lot fewer people have tried those (based on the number of reviews). We would probably buy more MB+s before our next trip, but I don’t want to *have* to if I can’t find the ‘cradles.’ We never got anything but those with the MB+s we have.
We asked at the front desk at wilderness Lodge, and they said that they find them in the room rooms after check out all the time. They have a whole collection they gave us two for free.
How many times do I have plead they bring back a plain magic band? I don’t need or want the extra whips and jingles that come with the “+”.
When my old Magic Band dies, I’m going to a plastic card given at the hotel. Save money!
I just saw magic band chargers for sale at Disney All Stars Music resort.
