Disney Cruise Line specializes in many things — fantastic family-friendly entertainment, relaxing experiences both onboard and off the ship on Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, incredible shows, and more — but living on a cruise ship full-time is not something they offer currently.
However, there are cruise ship companies out there that DO offer guests the opportunity to live on board the ship. Essentially instead of owning an apartment or home, you’re paying to live on a cruise ship for months on end. If you’ve heard of this before and it sounded interesting to you, one cruise line has announced plans to have not one, but FIVE residential cruise ships.
Seatrade Cruise News has just released a new article discussing Crescent Seas’ plans to offer new residential cruises on multiple ships. This is a new company, totally focused on residential cruises, and the first of the planned five ships will be called the Navigator.
This new cruise line is part of GFO Investments which is led by Russell Galbut, the former Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings chairman. The Navigator is actually an existing ship, currently called the Seven Seas Navigator and a $50+ million interior refurbishment is planned to form the ship into its new vision. Currently, its maiden voyage is set for December 2026.
The ship will offer just 210 residences ranging in price of $750,000 to $8 million. All units will include butler service and Starlink internet to make work or school possible. It’s being reported that, “Residence sales will open to the public on April 9th, with a sales gallery in Miami available for prospective buyers.”
So what’s the reasoning behind this idea? Galbut has said, “After spending so much time on the seas, we noticed that travelers yearned for more. People on the ships kept telling us they wanted to live this luxurious lifestyle. So, we decided to select ships with the right configurations to convert to the most magnificent cruising yachts.”
What’s even more staggering is that the ship itself was hand-selected for this purpose and that they “hired the same experienced management teams to operate the ship for the first 10 years of operations. We are delighted to be able to provide luxury homes to people that will carry them to places they’ve only dreamed of.” The ships will travel all around the world, docking at each destination for around 2-3 days.
We’re certainly interested to hear more about this interesting concept, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest cruising news!
