When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well.
We recently stopped by Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe at Magic Kingdom — which is not typically a place we recommend for the best eats at this park — to see if our theory was still correct. Is this classic theme park meal really as disappointing as everyone says?
Over at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, we recently picked up the Flame-broiled 1/3 lb Angus Burger topped with bacon, American cheese, and Sonny Eclipse signature sauce on a brioche bun served with French fries. You can grab this meal for $13.99.
Unfortunately, our suspicions were confirmed because this bacon cheeseburger was still just okay. It wasn’t bad and was perfectly edible, but it was a basic theme park burger. On the plus side, it was a filling meal — because the cheeseburger itself was large, and because it came with so many fries. The bacon pieces were crunchy — we wouldn’t say crisp, they were flexible, with lots of chewier bits to them, but they weren’t soggy and undercooked. We do wish there had been a bit more of the Sonny Eclipse sauce, which did add some tanginess that helped to cut down on the rich flavors of the meat and cheese.
The cheese was melted, which was a plus, and the patty was alright taste-wise, but it was well done so you don’t get a choice on the temperature of the burger (which is pretty standard for quick service). Overall, this is a decent meal that will do in a pinch, but it’s not something that we’re ever really craving when we’re in the park. If you’re looking for something safe and familiar, or possibly something that picky eaters might still enjoy, this one won’t steer you wrong.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more snacks to review and updates from Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

It has always amazed me how Disney could take. Simple food item and ruin it. It is well known that Disney food is overpriced and the weakest link in the Disney chain. They don’t make a great burger anywhere on Disney property. A shame.
No, the most disgusting burger in Magic Kingdom is the kids’ meal burger at Pecos Bill. The patty was cold and disgusting and the bread was actually HARD. I even took it back up to the counter for a replacement and they gave me another old, crusty burger. The employee couldn’t have cared less. Very sad times around WDW.
I agree, this burger is bad. Most of the time it is cool to lukewarm and is as dry as a hockey puck. The bun is also dry.
We only go there to get a burger if we are desperate.
Why didn’t you dress the burger with the included lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.? It wouldn’t look quite so anemic and likely would have improved the taste.
Love Disney Burgers in the hotel and in the parks. I find them hot and juice. Maybe you all are waiting to long to eat the burgers. Most dinning is open air and food (no mater where) will cool faster in open air. I make sure at least one and some time 2-3 meal are the Disney Burgers for each trip we do. The price is a little high but the amount of food is always enough for 2, specially for lunch. Sharing is a good way to save money on lunch and dinner at the parks. That give more money and tummy room for the goodie that Disney offers. Which are all so good, can never make up our minds on which ones to try .
I miss the rotisserie chicken meal at Cosmic Ray’s. Half a rotisserie chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes at a reasonable price – I used to get that all the time. I’ve also split it with my mom before, because there’s so much food it’s perfect for 2 people. I wish they’s bring that back.
