Disney had their Annual Meeting of Shareholders, and we got a model for a new ride coming to the Disney Parks!
The very first Lion King attraction is coming to an international park soon and we’re so excited to get more details on it.
Disney just dropped a sneak peek at the Lion King attraction coming to Disneyland Paris!
This attraction is in a new themed area of Disney Adventure World, previously known as Walt Disney Studios Park, where there will be “dining, shopping, and a chance to meet some favorite characters.” Disney says, “The new attraction will bring you alongside Simba’s journey from cub to king — it’s going to feel like you stepped right into the movie.”
The ride reminds us of Splash Mountain/Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and it looks like it will be a log flume ride. We’re expecting to get wet! It’s going to be great during the summer. This is the model they plan the attraction on, so it’s crazy to see how big it is! These help Imagineers plan out decorations, tracks, and the amount of physical space elements take up.
It looks just like Pride Rock! On top of the mountain, we can see either Mufasa or Simba. The concept art shows Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa, but we haven’t seen them on the models quite yet. These animatronics are going to be so neat to see, and we’re thrilled to see how they’re going to do the meet and greets.
We’re so excited about this attraction opening and about seeing the very first Lion King attraction. It’s set to open sometime in 2026, but we’re already looking forward to it! Disney has been saying that it will feel like stepping into the movie, and since this is such a classic movie, we know it’s going to be fun.

Are you excited about this Lion King attraction? Let us know in the comments!
It’s not the first Lion King attraction though it is the first Lion King ride. At WDW there is the Festival of the Lion King in the Animal Kingdom and back on my first visit in 1995 there was a Lion King puppet show in Magic Kingdom which was replaced by Mickey’s Philharmagic. In Disneyland Paris there is also a Lion King show.
Excited to hear about the Lion King ride. Fortunately, the international Disney parks build attractions as Walt designed. That is “stepped right into a movie”. Unfortunately, Disney USA corp. just builds rides – as most ordinary amusement parks do. Sad USA tourist now have to go international to get the real Walt Disney experience.
