It’s time for a road trip!
While some people choose to fly into the Orlando International Airport (MCO), others prefer to drive to the Most Magical Place on Earth. There is something truly magical after you spend hours driving to Disney World and you finally get to go under the iconic Disney World sign. If you are considering packing up the car and taking the gang to Disney World by driving, here are five things you should keep in mind!
Let’s get into it!
Check Your Hotel’s Parking Fees
Standard parking is complimentary for all guests staying at a Disney World resort; however, if you choose to stay off property, this might not be the case. While it can be nice not to have to rely on others to transport you to and from the parks, it is a good idea to double-check how much it will cost to keep your car parked at your hotel if it is not a Disney World resort.

Should You Switch Hotels?
Some people like to take a split vacation where they visit both Disney World and Universal on the same trip. There are a few ways that you can do a split stay: You can choose to stay at one hotel and commute to the other theme park, or you can choose to spend some nights at a Disney World hotel and some at a Universal hotel.
If you are only going to Universal for one day, it may not be a bad idea to just stay at a Disney World hotel, but if you find yourself wanting to spend more time at Universal, a split stay at a resort could save you time, mileage, and gas money. Make sure to keep Universal’s parking fees in mind.

Can You Roadtrip to Disney World with an Electric Vehicle?
The obvious answer is yes, of course you can! But once again you have to think about both time and money. Before you start your journey to Disney World, think about how many times you will have to stop, how long it will take, and how much it will cost. It is also wise to see if there are any superchargers along your route to help speed things up. At the end of the day, it is totally up to you, but if driving an EV is going to take longer due to stops and cost more, you may want to consider flying in or renting a gas-powered car.

Not Every Disney World Hotel Has EV Chargers
To go off of the above, if you bring an Electric Vehicle, you may not have a charger at your Disney World hotel. Currently, only Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort have charging stations. You may want to consider a stay at one of these resorts if you are planning to drive an EV. Otherwise, chargers are available on a first come, first served basis at all four Disney World theme parks.

Slow Down, You’re on Vacation!
While we know the anticipation can build up when you finally arrive at Disney World, pay attention to the speed limit as it can drop. Some roads at Disney World seamlessly go from the highway to a normal road. The last thing you want is to get pulled over, so make sure to slow down. We mean, you are on vacation, so enjoy it!

The USA needs to catch up with EVs. It is so cheap and easy to drive from the UK to Disneyland Paris. OK you may need to charge more often than you would to fill up with petrol or diesel but even in an ICE car we used to make the same amount of stops because we needed a break for toilets or a drink. You should stop every 2 pr 3 hours for a break because of tiredness.
