When folks travel to Disney World and other Orlando theme parks, they generally fly into and out of Orlando International Airport.
That airport is served by numerous airlines, and sometimes delays and cancelations can happen. This is often due to weather, although there was an incident in 2024 when some software used by airlines had issues, resulting in multiple flight delays and cancelations. Now, one airline, Silver Airways, has recently pulled ALL its flights from Orlando International Airport with little warning, leaving customers stranded, according to WFTV.
Folks scheduled to fly with Silver Airways to and from Orlando have been stranded at the airport this weekend after Silver canceled all flights going to and leaving Orlando International Airport with no warning. This comes several months after Silver Airways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, although we have no confirmation the cancelations are related to that news.
When the company filed for bankruptcy, it stated at the time that “all tickets remain valid and we will continue operating as usual” and promised that passengers could still book flights with Silver. However, as of today, if you search the Silver Airways website for flights to or from Orlando, every day of every month shows flights “not scheduled.” Note that flights for other airports still seem available on the site.
“We received notification this afternoon that, effective immediately, all departing and arriving flights with Silver Airlines are canceled,” Greater Orlando Aviation Authority spokeswoman Angela Starke told WFTV, adding, “Unfortunately, I do not have any additional information to share at this time.”
Silver has not yet commented or issued any press releases on the Orlando cancelations. However, aviation trade papers have suggested that Silver was being forced to downsize its fleet after receiving backlash from the company it leased its planes from.

If you paid a bunch of money to fly to your destination and back, you should have a plane at the airport ready to do so. This is why I don’t book on budget airlines. Nothing in life is certain, and not to say it couldn’t happen to United or any of the other airlines, but there is no sense in taking changes. I booked my trip on a major airline.
