Get ready to feel some Sweet Emotion, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster fans. The iconic coaster is changing in a BIG way. Say goodbye to Aerosmith; Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the gang will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard to take over the roller coaster! So, what’s with all the changes? Well, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. themed land is coming to Hollywood Studios, and it’s taking the place of the Muppets Courtyard on Grand Avenue. This has led to some serious theme park rearranging, including changes at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
So far, Disney has been pretty quiet about the changes planned for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but a new permit indicates the first official changes are on the way. Disney just filed a permit to repaint the guitar at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
We don’t know many details about what the guitar will look like yet, but according to a new document, the contractor will sand the guitar and apply one coat of primer and two coats of HP finish. Does this mean the signature red color could be changing? It’s hard to say! This could just be a quick refresh to touch up the existing color.

The permit states that Harrison Contracting CO Inc. will work on the project.

Closer look at the guitar
As a reminder, The Muppets will be the star of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.”
Looking at the concept art for the new attraction, it looks like the super-stretch limo could get a new paint job in the future, too. Here’s a look at the current limo at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

It’s blue!
This will be the first Disney ride (Muppet*Vision 3D is technically a show) to feature The Muppets, and Disney teased “laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure.” Additionally, Disney confirmed that there will be plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard. We’re expecting the Rock Around the Shop gift shop to get a makeover, too.

This could change!
Although this new permit is promising, Disney still hasn’t announced when construction will begin on the Monsters, Inc. land or the Muppets coaster.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

I would love to see The Electric Mayhem make their Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster debut. If they could move Muppet Vision 3D somewhere else in Hollywood Studios
Maybe it’ll be rainbow-swirled, like the Studebaker!
Movin’ right along…
I’m not sure that the current height restriction of 48″ works with Muppet themeing, which should be more kid friendly.
so this is a fine change to the coaster, however its taking out the very young and older people as well as people who cannot ride coasters. SO no Muppets for them. Doesnt sound very well thought out, Monsters is also going to be a coaster. I hope disney doesnt become like seaworld and make everything into coasters.
The target audience for Muppets won’t be able to ride a coaster so that means it will no longer be a thrill ride. That will drive down the guest participation, and eventually, instead of admitting their mistake, the ride will be shut down, and it will become just another empty building. I’m not holding out too much hope for this one.
